Color woes - help me!
I can't make up my mind which color I want to go with. I'm probably going to have this car for 10 years, so I want to make the right choice.
My heart says Black, but I've had black cars for 7 years and I know the hassle.
I thought I'd go with Midnight Blue, but it is the same hassle as black and I'm starting to second guess myself, despite liking this color (and it has extra points for being more rare).
My common sense says go with Arctic Silver because it will wear well, not show rock chips as easy, and it will look better in 10 years than the other colors. Then again, do I really want a silver car? Isn't it kinda dull?
Help me choose by filling out the poll question here.

I love my black 997S when she's clean and waxed, but damn its hard keeping up with a black car. I don't think midnight blue is as bad as black; I had a lapis blue Boxster S a few years back and it was not nearly as much work as black (I realize lapis is lighter than midnight). My prior car was an Arctic Silver 996 Targa, and frankly the color was very boring and bland to me. (I think Arctic looks better on the 997.) Darker colors are more work but they look so good when they are clean. So I voted for midnight blue. [I just saw your last post, and Atlas is an interesting color too - worth a close look, but try to see it in person and both daylight and night.]

Black is a classic color that you will not get tired of (even though you may get tired of keeping it clean). But seriously, black won't look like an old car in ten years because Porsche will still be painting cars black ten years from now. Any other "color" will always be "dated" to some era in some way. Good second and third choices, if black is just too high maintenance for you, are Silver or White.

go with Cobalt Blue if you really want it...if you are not buying another one for at leat 10 years, why not get the one color you really want? $4000/ 10 years is only $400 a year or or $33 more a month or just $1.08 a day!
How about purple?

Keep the feedback coming - this is great. I'm leaning more toward Black (which also makes room for me to add TPMS). I've had black on my last two Mercedes for the past 7 years so I know what I'm in for, but I still love my black Benz so I doubt I'd feel any different about the 997. Of course, I do get a bit annoyed when it is in the sun and I still notice some swirls no matter how good the detail (there just a few that are too deep). Then again, 15 years ago I was pro detailer so I might have to revive those skills to get what I know would look best if I treated it right - black.
Thanks everyone - more feedback welcome!

OK, is this better than Mexico Blue? My black beauty. I have to say black looks mean on this car. (Thanks to Alan - mnmblu - who has a magic photoshop tool that gives black cars the finest detailing possible.)

I have midnight blue and it is the same hassle as my other black cars. I had a silver Jag and
silver was incredible when it came to dirt....it just stays clean. If you own it, as oppose to lease, and plan to keep it for many years, I would suggest silver. It will hold up much better than the darker colors.
