Default Alarm

My four month old 05 997's alarm has decided to set itself off the last couple of mornings in my company's parking lot. Before I deal with the local dealership, is there anything I should do re this or know re this? Has spontaneous alarm for no good reason been a problem for others? thanks

I have heard that if you leave a cell phone, beeper, or other sound/radio device in the car, this can set off the alarm. Someone on this Board posted a similar problem and that is what happened.

Nothing has changed. Interior is same as always, well, except that I took off those offensive yellow notices on the visors. Wouldn't it be funny if that was the cause! Thanks

How did you get the offensive yellow notices off the visor?

I haven't tried this yet, but I suspect this will work for 997:

I essentially followed the above noted process. Works fine and makes world of difference in appearence inside. Well worth the effort, IMHO.

I have had the same problem since October last year and my Porsche dealer have still yet to find the cause of it. It seems to happen only in certain areas (such as central London). First, my dealer replaced the hood latch as they thought that this may have something to do with it. This didn't solve the problem so in again and this time they replaced the siren itself (they said they had a customer with a 996 with a similar problem and that resolved it) - this hasn't rectified it either. I now lock the car without activating the alarm (two presses on the key fob, one long indicator flash) as I've given up on Porsche resolving the issue. Drives me mad.

Thanks for the suggestion. Nice to pay all this money for a car and then have to circumvent some of its capabilities in order to live with the thing. Makes that check I wrote seem all the larger! Thanks again for the tip.
