Default Frickin' Flat Rant!

Okay, it's my M3; but this pertains to my 997s on order.

BMWs version of Porsche TPMS went off.

Stopped car, sure enough it's going flat.

It's late, I'm on alone on the rural highway, I'M TIRED as h*ll; it was one of those days!

What did I do? I whiped out the jack and the spare I had to special order for the M3 and changed the dang thing in 15 minutes. Got back in car and drove the final 30 miles home.

MY POINT: I'll be darned if I were gonna call BMW (or Porsche eventualy) and WAIT WAIT and have them tow my car 30 miles in the opposite direction and then rent a car and then drive 60 miles home and God knows what else I would have to tolerate. Also I'll be darned if I'm gonna dick around with a can of goo and puny air pump trying to get it to MAYBE work. I was as tired as a guy can get, I just wanted to go HOME, clean myself up and fall into bed.

I only had enough reserve energy to change a tire.

So, next time somebody says, "Just call Porsche Roadside Assistence," I'm gonna smack him.

Just get the 997 spare and a jack and put it in your 997. So damned stooooopid not to have one come with he car!

the spare is not 19....just small enough to get you to safety.

Is there an actual option for a temporary spare & jack for the 997? I don't see it in the Porsche car configurator (whatever it's called).
Also, assuming a little donut spare can be obtained, where does one stow it? In the boot or behind the seats???

what about the wider wheel (esp. rear) you will be taking off. will that fit in the boot?

Get a large garbage bag and shove it in one of back seats. The actual spare fits in there and has the same diameter.

Yea, Porsche's great engineers couldn't figure out how to do a spare? At least make run flats an option. Michelin makes some already. Of course they are super heavy.
