Default 997 Fire Extinguisher mounts

Anybody have one yet? They are required for DE here and I may end up fabricating one from Stainless tubing or aluminum stock. Would there be any interest in these or are they available somewhere my garage doesn't know about?

Thanks

I've got to talk with my fabrication guy and go over the plan I drew up to see what works. best. I have a Halotron extinguisher (2.5lb) that I will use for testing. I'll be sure to lrt you know what comes of it VB..

I've contacted both Safecraft Equipment and Brey-Krause. Reportedly, B-K is now working on a bolt-on seat mount bracket for the 997. Their 996 seat mount will not fit the 997. In another vehicle, I have a Safecraft billet head extinguisher and Safecraft billet quick-release bracket mounted to a B-K seat mount. I find the products to be nicely machined and highly functional, although passengers expressed concern with the extinguisher being positioned below their legs. I've since moved the mount to the driver's seat.
Safecraft does have other "universal" mounts available.

As it will be mounted using the two torx bolts in the front seat rail mounts it can be removed for everyday use in less than 5 minutes from what I can see.

Came up with a very simple mount that actually lays on the rug in front of the passenger seat. It passed Tech and the inspector liked the looks and the fact that it didn't get in the way of the passenger. It does, as most all mounts do, restrict movement of the seat to a far back position.

It is made from 1/8" aluminum diamond plate and three 5/16" SS bolts.. thats it. It goes in/out in about 3 minutes with the removal ot the two front seat mount bolts. Let me know if you want to see pics...

Here you go!

This is the assembled unit ready to go in.

Bottom of the unit, you can see I ground the nuts/bolts and rounded them. Red Loctite guarentees they stay put.

Tools required for the job. The small screwdriver prys up the plastic lock-tab on the seat runner trim above the mounting bolts. They just slide right off, exposing the two Torx bolts. An E-12 Torx socket, 6" extension and 3/8" drive is it!

Here she is in place....

I can easily take a bit off the bottom of the plastic trim pieces and put them back on but I need to take this out to get a child in back so haven't bothered.. yet.

I did opt for the $140, Option 509, Fire Extinguisher.
It is nicely done and out of the way...don't even know that is there.
Highly recommend this option (a best value) for those ordering.

I wonder what the parts counter gets for it after the fact?

Not sure MJ. I saw a picture of it somewhere and just didn't like the looks of it. I agree its a good value, my extinguisher alone was $139.00...

A 987 owner bought the factory one. I assume it is the same as the 997. Problem is it would only mount on the drivers side as the bracket would not fit on the passenger side. But there might be a RHD version.

If you want the dimensions let me know, All you need is a sabre saw w/hacksaw blade, a disc grinder, and a drill w/3/8" bit...

The diamond plate piece cost me about $20 at metal Supermarkets... you can get the same extinguisher in red for around $100 I think.
