Question An end to AOS vent line issues

Hi, I'm a college student looking to machine some components out of billet aluminum and make some automotive parts. I've been trying to find parts that communities are in need of, and it seems that there is a lack of aftermarket solutions for the flimsy plastic AOS system vent line connections, so I was thinking about making some out of anodized aluminum that would use a wire clip system (should be easy to get on and off, used in other aftermarket contexts), and hoses made of fluorocarbon-lined (FKM/Viton) Silicone or braided stainless steel with a PTFE core.

I feel like this would make a very reliable alternative to the OEM AOS vent line system that seems to have connectors very prone to breaking and causing issues, while also looking very nice in the engine bay. This wouldn't necessarily fix the need to replace the AOS module, but would make sure it'd the only thing you need to replace while making sure you don't have to deal with the plastic connectors.

I figured before I make anything it would make sense to talk to the community and make sure this is something you guys would actually want, and if the answer is no, if there are any other parts that the community is in need of.

Thanks guys

Looks like you're doing some basic research on the technical feasibility / acceptability of your proposed solution.

But if the discussion gets into any commercial and/or advertising topics such as potential pricing, etc., then you need to read this in detail:

https://rennlist.com/forums/the-renn...-info-186.html

Of particular note...
  • "Only current, paid Members and Site Sponsors may post Ads (i.e., any post to buy, sell, or trade anything)."
  • "All Member ads must include a purchase price."
  • "You must be a paid Site Sponsor to post any Ad that is commercial in nature."

Just an FYI.

Thank you for the heads up! I don't intend to be breaking any forum rules, please let me know if you feel I am getting to close to any.

There is allot of room for this type of stuff aka durable aftermarket replacement parts. The 997s and any older Porsche have tons of brittle plastics that snap when simply touched due to age and heat cycles.. For example, the turbo is known to have coolant pipe leaks and there are now metal aftermarket pipes to fix this (a permanent solution), which replaces the factory plastic pipes. I think many people would appreciate this type of upgrade. One thing I can think of. The Oil intake pipe, where you add oil, on the 997 is known to break all the time. and once it breaks/snaps, getting new one in is a PAINNNNNNNN. That is another good example where an upgrade would work.

Thank you so much! Would you say that that is more worth looking into then the AOS vent lines and connectors?

I would say it would be equally appreciated. For example. This person on the fb group literally just had his snap. Mine will likely snap at some point . When i tried unscrewing the cap, just the cap, to replace it with a new metal cap, the plastic brace/stand broke off. Which means the plastic tubing that connects to engine is basically done. Make a permanent fix for this and you have yourself an item you can sell.

I like your idea of the braided stainless AOS lines. Whatever those lines are made of they need to not collapse under high vacuum situations, and is one reason they're made of corrugated plastic.

There is already an excellent aftermarket oil tube replacement "The Antidote" made by Chris and his website is here: https://9ii.pro/
