Does anyone have a hot lead on or an extra set of window switch surrounds? I want to paint them white and start my interior project but I'm thinking of having someone else do the labor so it would be a lot easier to have a second set ready to go vs waiting on a painter to finish then putting the door back together.
I think the part numbers are
997.555.351.03
997.555.352.03
Go to eBay and buy two door cards (panels). Removing them is very touchy and will take alot of time... re-installing is easier if use JB Weld... butt... it is hours of work before you even refinish them. They are plastic-welded to the panel.
I have a used pair of black door spears too. You'll want to use Easy Off oven cleaner to strip off the soft touch material and get them down to the hard plastic, then paint them.
With any spears that have been previously installed on a panel (mine or Kellen') and not brand new, you'll need to use the screw method to reinstall them. This is a panel that has been reassembled using that method.

Those are some door panels I sold about a decade ago. I just posted them so you could see the screw attachment method when replacing them. I have a pair of regular OEM door spears that I removed from my panels when I installed carbon fiber ones.
Hi Petza, question: do you recall the size and type of screws you used, it looks like great work. I take it you drill out the factory attachment points for the spears. Thanks Glenn
I don't n they were just small stainless ones that were the right size to thread into the plastic mounting tubes of the door spears. I use a soldering iron to melt the plastic rivet/weld from the factory one while using a trim tool to pry away that part of the spear I'm working on. As soon as it releases, instop the heating and hold them apart until the plastic regardless, then go on to the next one. I fit the new or used spear into the door panel and mark the tube where it's flush with the back of the panel, then cut the tube off just a tiny bit below this point. This allows the screw to pull it into the panel nice and tight and with the screws you can adjust the tension at each attachment point to get the fit perfect. I did my first one by remelting the plastic and the screw method is better.
Thanks! I will follow your method when the part gets here. It's the sea blue color so who knows if they actually have it or I will be painting parts again.
Kellen I sent you a private message. This might work for a few people, If I can get kellens then have them painted and installed, I would gladly pay the favor forward and give mine to the next person who's in need them. Rdad, I can give you mine if you need them. They're black but I'm sure they can be painted to match your sea blue and wouldn't cost you anything if we can orchestrate it.
63Mercedes, thanks! I ordered one from Suncoast in sea blue, I will see if they can actually get it from their supplier. If not I will get back to you.
I received the new "spear" from Suncoast and installed it today with only one mishap: I managed to break the little plastic "axle" that locates the door opening mechanism to the chrome door handle. I drilled out the two pieces and joined them together with a metal rod and some super glue, worked fine. I drilled out the 7 or so attachment points of the "spear" to the door card and re-attached with small screws, again, worked fine. I attach 3 photos of the work and the result.
