Default Oil Preference

Hello All! New here. New Porsche 911 997.2 owner. Oil question I am sure this has been covered many times. Best oil for 2009 with 75,00 unknown miles. LiquiMoly vs Driven DI40. I don’t want to get into cost discussions just the best for my engine. Thank you in advance.

How does this free oil offer work? I use Driven DI40 in my 997.2.

2009 C2S 200K miles

LiquiMoly Leichtlauf 5W-40 with Cera Tec additive. Cera Tec has MoS2 (aka moly) and ceramic particles.

I did some research on Cera Tec's ceramic and discovered it is actually from alien spacecraft construction. Cera Tec ingredients discovered here: https://theconversation.com/physicis...e-of-it-209101

Further, the ceramic can be used to harden pretty much anything... read here: https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/art...ives-to-viagra

Yea, I know, I do way too much research... why not just go with the common wisdom of the internet? Not me... I leave no bolt untwisted, no knuckle not mashed... no, I do my homework. As a matter of fact, I am chewing on some blue ceramic right now... why um.... Elizabeth!!!

Peace

@Petza914 and @Bruce In Philly - I feel like we need a podcast/youtube video of you guys discussing this and your differing opinions. Maybe settle the score for ever!?

Meh.... get up to 10,000 feet and think about this.... I posit that just caring is 97.75% of engine longevity assuming your engine does not have a design/manufacturing flaw grenade waiting to happen.

All Brice has to do is upgrade to DI40 for 2-3 oil changes and compare the results from his LM UOA reports to the Driven ones and it will be evident who would win.

The DI40 will have fewer metal ppm, especially copper and lead from bearing wear, and will have less fuel suspended in the oil, and with the DI40 he doesn't have to remember to add anything else to the oil or decide what that should be and how much of it.

On the topic of Driven oils, isn’t it DT40 for .1 and DI40 for .2 the general guideline?

Yes. DI is for direct injection engines.

Sorry if I’m distracting from the conversation, but why has Mobil1 fallen out of the discussion?

Yep, either DT40 5w40 or FR50 5w50 for a .1 depending on climate, mileage, etc

DI40 for a .2 DFI engine (which is what Brice has).

I run FR50 in both my 05 997s and my GMC pickup. I run DI40 in the DFI 09 Cayenne Turbo S and the '12 Audi Q5.
