Default My 2009 997.2 4S feels very stiff and anemic. Help appreciated x

I got myself a lovely 15 year old PDK last week with only 11k miles on the clock. It doesn't feel very free flowing, almost as if it has thick cheap oil or is starved for breathing.

It's going in today for an oil change (engine only) a central muffler bypass, free flow air filter and that God-awful steering wheel switched to an OEM with proper paddles.

I'd really appreciate any advice on any other area that would help. I'm not necessarily chasing more power, just the 380 or so that's there feeling like it is if you know what I mean. I am lucky enough to have a 922 GTS for ripping things when I'm in the mood.

Many thanks!! xx

With that few miles on a 15 year old car, it's not good and could be anything. I would have the guys doing the work take a close look at everything. Mouse nests in the exhaust or intake, brakes fronzen/hung-up, bad fuel? These are the first that come to mind.

Once you get it back, Inlet (Intake) and outlet (Exhaust) side of things are clear of debris/nest etc and you get the car up to temp (oil temp above 180F), give the car a good workout.

Wind it out and let it rip through the gears. A good Italian tune-up sometimes is all that is required.

Ensure there is fresh fuel in the tank also.

Driven Fuel injector cleaner (Or any high PEA injector cleaner) is a good idea at this point.

2009 C2S 196K miles

Did you read the codes? Generally, these cars will throw a code if the Sichuan noodles were too hot... I think they have sensors in the lower seat covers. Throwing a code doesn't always light a lamp on the dash BTW.

When they have the airbox open, have them remove the pipe to the throttle body and and shoot some MAF cleaner in there real good... open the butterfly, jam a rag in there... and clean the MAF too. Oh, first, before they spray the cleaner in there, have them put a white rag on a screwdriver and shove that in there and get a sense of how oily the bottom of the intake manifold is... may imply health of the air/oil separator.

Run a double dose of Techron or your favorite gas additive and get the engine up in the revs for a while with that juice in there.

Peace

Does the car have sport chrono? Throttle and PDK responsiveness is pretty muted without it.

It has indeed yes. Sport and Sport plus switches on the dash, which oddly don't light up and there's no discernible difference in throttle or PDK responsiveness.

I think we might have found the issue.

Thanks for all the pointers everyone. What a generously knowledgable forum this is!

Bingo! PDK cars are sluggish in normal mode. Get your Sport and Sport+ working and you will be pleasantly surprised.

good luck!

Have you given your car a blood test at hospital?? Sounds like it's low on Iron and Vitamin D.
