Default Purchasing Parts Before Car?

I've had a simple "build" for my first Porsche in my head, a 997 Carrera C2 '06 or newer, under 60K miles, manual, couple w/ Fab Speed performance kit and BBS e88's in my head for awhile now. There is an excellent starter car for sale right now but I'm probably not going to be able to free up the garage space in time..

Got off the phone this morning with our local BBS retailer and he said it was 12 month lead time to order BBS e88's... anyone else purchase parts for a potential vehicle prior to vehicle purchase?

Buying a car to fit certain wheels? Yes I have.

Not unheard of to buy parts for a non-existent vehicle.

I'd suggest buying a 997.1 example at a little higher mileage amount of say 75-85K miles so that important needed srvices are performed especially for manual transmission clutch/flywheel/RMS replacement.
Also at that higher mileage you get peace of mind with a Sprk Plug Bore Scope Inspection showing clean cylinder walls.
This has been my practice for 996 & 997 purchases and has done me good.

Maybe buy the wheels and hang onto them but the Fabspeed setup will be available when you pull the trigger.

Thanks gentleman, @groovzilla I appreciate the advise, typically I'm a mileage snob.. I was burnt by a high mileage vehicle in the past, I'll be it, I was 18 and I bought it in a gas station parking lot at night without any inspection... so that is on me haha. Here is the one if I could pull the trigger right now I probably would, what do you guys think?

We have quite a few customers reach out about cars they're thinking about buying and want some options on wheels. Since we provide renders it makes choosing the right car for your new wheels easy

Remember Dealer is gonna cost you +15-20% - Buy from Private party if possible.
That particular car seems priced high for a Base Model but again we are talking Dealer price. Private party seller would probably take $43-$44K for same car.

I've done it, but wouldn't recommend it. The car you might end up with may already have whatever you're pre-buying and you'll have to resell what you bought at a loss. Or, you may find a wheel you like better by the time you buy a car and then will still have the others on order even though you no longer want them, or a perfect used set may come available saving you a few grand vs buying new and waiting.

I'd wait until you have the car before buying stuff for it unless something super rare that's a must have becomes available, like a RUF shift **** or something

I live near there somewhat. If you were really interested in it, I could put eyes on it for you. LMK.
