Default How much should front and rear struts be on a 2009 C4S?

Had my 100k mile 997.2 C4S in for service today at Porsche North Houston. They quoted $10,500 for “Shock Absorber Replacement - Front and rear struts weak and mounts, bump stops”. Sounds very high. I realize it’s a dealership, but how much can I expect to pay at a reputable Indy? TIA

That's why they call them stealerships ..Half that price from an indy is more than reasonable.
I would source out the parts myself and have an indy install and align .

My WAG for this job using AllData hours and parts prices:
- $1,700 labor. 8.6 hours all totaled for 4 corners
- $2,400 - $3,600 depending on which suspension you have, each corner is $600 - $900
- $350 -$500 carrier plates and stops.
- $300 wheel alignment
$4,750 - $6,100 ... Then add shop fee, environmental fees, taxes and the up charge (the Porsche dealer can charge whatever they want) and you get to your $10k.

I too would recommend an independent Porsche shop, with an alignment machine. Have them source the specific parts that you want: Porsche branded, OEM to spec, nonOEM, etc. Doing so, puts them on the hook for the parts and labor warranty. If you bring you own parts and there is an issue with the parts, it is 100% on you and your check book.

Wow! No substitute for doing your own work I guess. For less the kind of $s being tossed around here, I did a full set of recinditioned B16s, cargraphic noselift, TPC DSC controller, Tarett monoballs, and a complete RSS Tarmac Stage 2 kit with their adjustable sway bars including powdercoating the bars Bilsteins blue.

Paying $10k to end up stock suspension performance is rough.

Rockauto has Bilstein replacements for pasm, bump stops, mounts and other assorted swap parts bringing you to less than 2k for stock options.

Damn - someone is looking to retire on that quote....

There is no more than 5hrs worth of labor on replacing it - if you take your time it's 8 hours max + alignment (1hr) = 9hrs of work typically $150-250 per hr to do the labor part. $1350-2250 should be labour portion .

As mentioned, either go OEM (about $4.0k ) for all the struts and mounts or Bilstein replacement ($1800) or Bilstein PASM coilovers... Personally I'd go with the PASM coilovers + Lemforder mounts, maybe even do the control arms while there, to refresh the whole suspension.

Tried this place ?

2009 C2S 192K miles

Just go to Pelican Parts, or FCPEuro and you will find the prices for both Porsche and alternative parts. In short, that price is just stupid. I can't give even a ballpark number for labor as I replaced mine. BTW, you will need an alignment in addition to the remove and replace work.

Why are you replacing them? If were me, I would only replace failed or failing components and for shocks, only if they are leaking.... I would, however, replace them in pairs (left/right).

Peace

We sell Bilsteins are replacement coilovers, some agree they're better than OEM.
