Default Need help interpreting DME and Bore Scope results

So I'm looking at a very well cared for 2008 911 C4 (3.6) with 49k miles that has been a Texas car all of its life. The PPI scoped it from the oil pan side. Some of the pics are blurry because of oil getting on the camera. Please take a look and let me know what you think.

DME Report - Looks Good, Ranges in 1/2 are normal, with two full revolutions in range 3 (less than one sec in that state and more than 50hrs ago ). (No "Money shifts" which would indicate revolutions in 4,5,6)

Bore Score - Tough to say with those pictures.

DME looks good.
Bore Scope photos tough to make out due to poor photos but from what I can see the results seem ok.

Anyone else got an opinion on the bores?

There are definitely vertical light scuffing marks in a couple of those photos. The one with a dark oil spot also concerns me as the oil tends to stick in the scratches, but I can't really tell what I'm looking at in that photo so may be nothing, and although very light, the process has stared in cylinder 6 from what I see here.

It's really hard to look at details with those pictures. Are there better ones? Taken with a wider lens for more details?

I tend to agree ...Looks like initial bore scoring ....I would not purchase this car as there are many 997's out there with clean bores .. Looks like the scoring although light has started to me from those pics and on the dreaded cylinder 6 which is a big red flag . Cylinders must be clean no and if or maybe's ...slight scuffing is one thing but scoring on any level is a no go.

No, this was all they provided. The car is already buttoned up and back with the owner.

So I just talked to the shop owner (a Porsche/Flat 6 specialist) who performed the borescope. He said that this engine is clean and there's nothing that would turn him away from it. We went through each of the pics and there's some light scuffing that he said is normal for engines with this mileage but none of it is out of the ordinary and he doesn't expect it to impact the life of the engine.

And here is the problem, not all 997s have scoring, but a lot of them do.

I bet the majority of them do. Has anyone posted any bore scope pictures that have ZERO evidence of "scoring"? IMO, that engine will go another 100k with no issues.

I have posted several photos in various BS Threads of my 2006 997 C4 Cylinder walls when it was Bore Scoped at 106,000 miles which was last year and 1000 miles ago.
All cylinder walls were clean and no scoring.

The Base 3.6L engine is showing less and less scoring as these engines gain higher miles.
The 3.8L "S" engine Bore Scoring much more common.

I'd love input from Charles Navarro or someone from LN on this. Is this just normal scuffing or is this the beginning of BS?

Was it scoped from the top or the bottom?

A better question: "Is scuffing normal?" I dunno about that one. Search ChatGPT or The Google on that and .... well....

Peace
