…would just add that some of you are smart enough to know how to tweak things…speaking for myself I’m definitely not there so I’d rather not over do it!!

Just consider that Porsche sells a lot of cars in central and northern Europe where some parts get a lot of snow during the winter months. Many drive their cars year around over there, making skiing trips to Austria, France and Switzerland and mount snow chains. So perhaps Porsche kept this in mind since I bet it's easier to lower a car who's owner doesn't care about snow chains than it would be to raise one who does care.

And how precise are most of us driving these cars where a 1" or 1.25" drop would negatively affect the "geometry" of the car? I've lowered all three of my 997's with 1.25" H&R springs. Noticed nothing but a slight improved handling feel since dropping the car lowers the center of gravity. I may be off base here but I can't think of a reason a lower center of gravity would negatively affect the handling of a sports car.

Incidentally, Champion Porsche in Pompany Beach, FL (no affiliation other than being a happy customer).....largest volume Porsche dealership in the US is selling H&R lowering springs with no disclosure of anything adverse handling wise or otherwise. Just trying to give you some peace of mind if you want to lower the car but worry about handling issues if you do it. Makes a big difference in the stance/look of the car and that's the main difference, at least as far as I'm concerned.

i'm also pretty sure our North American cars are raised a cm compared to the euro cars - due to curb laws.

Are you running 295 or 305 rears?

I was surprised when weighed my recently swapped out Turbo II wheels. My replacement OEM Sports Classic wheels were heavier. The forged Turbo IIs were 22/25 pounds and the cast SCs were 25/32. (the SC wheels are 1/2" wider BTW).

Part of the magic of the original Fuchs wheel was the alloy content - predominately aluminum but with some magnesium mixed in. Being forged they are both light weight and very strong.

Recently restored original Fuchs 16 x 8 rear wheel, and shown on my '87 Targa...

The car color is Cream White. Wheels I bought from the Rennlist Classifieds. I believe the brand is a now defunct Fuchs Performance; an American company that went out of business a few years back. Wheels are fully forged and fairly light. I really like them and haven’t seen another 997 with them. The rears are concave, which is the biggest difference from the classic Fuchs.

Wheels specs: 19x8.5 et45 and 19x11 et51

They fit nice and flush on the narrow body C2
