So I looked at the car and I really like it. I have a couple of concerns - one of them is that the car is lowered on Eibach springs and it has the GT3 front bumper on it. I’m concerned that the car won’t be able to make it into my driveway with the GT3 bumper, does anyone know if the lower air dam of the GT three bumper can be removed?

Also, how hard is it to find a set of stock C4 springs? I think the car has PASM is that helps any.

I think you're confusing a lot of things here. What you are writing about is accurate if you're talking about a front engine and front drive car. A 911 is a very different animal. 911s have traditionally been known to have light front ends because there's no weight up front. So the addition of drivetrain up front will only help with weight distribution. Secondly, the AWD system on 997 cars are RWD biased, so you aren't getting a purely fwd situation either.

I think people who talk about poor steering on the AWD 997 cars either have never driven one or are hypersensitive to steering feel. I own a 997 turbo and have driven several rwd 997s. I drove a 993 carrera 2 back to back with my car. I never noticed a substantial difference in steering feel. I came from a e92 M3 and like the steering feel more in my 997 turbo.

Like anything that comes down to perception, the OP really needs to drive an AWD 997 to arrive at his own opinion.

Sounds like it's time to find a new house - During test drive take it down your driveway and see how it does - Maybe have seller do the driving down the driveway.
I believe all add on bumpers can be removed.
**Really important you get thorough PPI and Bore Scope Inspection. I'm always leery about Porsche's that have been modified. From my experience, they generally see track time and many times more abuse.

That aero front bumper is highly desirable and the lowering springs probably make it look a lot better than it would stock. I'd leave it as is and get some plates for your driveway or if you don't live on a busy road, plan to back it. That's has the tires lift the front instead of the front having to clear a lip or incline before the tires get to it.

OK - so I've put down a deposit on the C4. It really is a nice, well cared for car. Overall I'm fine with my personal PPI (I'm a lifetime car guy and my son and I have been all through a 986). My only concern is bore scoring. Do I just need to get cylinders 4,5,6 scoped?

6 is most likely, then 4, then 5, then 3, then 1, then 2.

Would be rare for both 6 and 4 to be clean and have an issue in one of the other 4

And cylinders 4-6 are on the drivers side (US version) of the car?

How many miles on car? Does it have good service history documentation?
*So if you are car guy did you do a Computer DME readout to see if the car has any Over-Revs in Range 4,5 or 6? Range 4 is somewhat acceptable but 5 & 6 can be issue---->This will let you know if engine has been abused.
Also DME will show Cam Deviation which is another important piece of info. And Indy Porsche shop knows all the ins and outs of these cars and put on lift to check suspension points/brakes/oil leaks/etc - Do you have a lift to check under car?
Scope all 6 cylinders.

Getting thorough PPI helps in grinding down seller price when issues come up.
Strongly suggest PPI & Bore Scope at Indy Porsche shop

No, passenger side in US. 4 at the rear and 6 at the front.

It goes in tomorrow for a bore scope of all 6 cylinders and a DME report. Cross your fingers for me as I really want this car. I've been shopping for a 997 for a long time and this is really the first one that I'm thrilled about. The owner and I have agreed upon a price, I've put a deposit on it and he's dropping the car off at the shop for me (I live 3 hours away).

It's a really nice looking car. It makes me think of how Singer would do a 997 - it's wide body, has Fuch wheels, GT3 front end and the vintage style Carrera script on the sides with everything else stock. All of the original parts (including the turbo wheels and original 997 front end) are included.

Any Photos? Keep us posted and try and upload the DME info
