2006 C2S Aero

Mileage: 15115

Installation of New Wheels: BBS CH-R Satin Anthracite w/ Polished Lip Protector

I found these wheels and tires local to me, the wheel set came off of a 991 and the wheels and tires have around 400 miles on them. The price was VERY fair and even though I did not want to move to a 20" wheel, these really work.

Ride is compliant but definitely firmer than before. PASM in sport mode is a bit much at this point. Definitely one of my favorite mods to date. The wheel lips are perfectly at the fenders, no rubbing issues.

Wheel/Tire Specs:
FRONT: 20x9 ET:49 - 245/30/ZR Michelin PS4S
REAR: 20x11.5 ET 66 - 305/25/ZR Michelin PS4S (Will move to a 30 series tire when its time for new rubber)

Front spacers Removed and 15mm rear spacers remained. (49ET Front 51 ET Rear)

Huge visual improvement. Love the Grey on Grey. BBS always look kill on a 997.

2006 C2S Aero

Mileage: 15199

Installation: OEM GT3 Alcantara Shifter / Handbrake Trim https://www.suncoastparts.com/product/PKGT3XA.html
Installation: OEM (Faux) Aluminum Gas Cap https://www.suncoastparts.com/product/99720198000.html
Oil Change: Driven DT-40 5w-40 & L/N Engineering Magnetic Drain plug https://lnengineering.com/products/p...e-s-turbo.html

GT3 Alcantara is a nice match with the Stone Grey Leather, would like to do the steering wheel next. Gas cap is a nice touch, car feels a bit more special upon fill-up. Tether removed from gas cap to prevent fuel cap from falling and striking body.

Oil change accepted 8qts DT-40, nice to get the Mobil 1 0w-40 out. Oil Level set at 2nd Bar.

Next project is Classic PCCM and/or a Alcantara GT3 Wheel for the car. Pretty happy with how it sits as of now. Would also like to change out ignition system as well due to age.

2008 C2 Aero

Mileage 18820

- New Spark Plug & Coilpacks https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/por...eru-996ignclkt
- Torque Solutions Transmission Mount Insert (Red- Sport) https://www.torquesolution.com/Mount...s-por-437s.htm
- New Motor Mounts https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/por...co-99737504908
- Bore Scope Inspection
- Replaced Coolant cap with updated Version (02 to variant 04) https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/por...or-99610644704

Notes:

Plugs and coil-packs were replaced due to age (14yrs), plugs showed no abnormal wear or lean/rich conditions. Plugs and coil-packs were original based on coil-pack dates.

Engine Mounts were changed due to age(14yrs) as well and they showed 1/4in of extension (droop) VS the new motor mounts. I suspected this as the chassis (handling dynamics) did not feel as tight as it should be.

Bore Scope inspection presented negative results with no scoring or cracks in cylinder walls. (Phew!)

Coolant cap showed a very minor leak and would present a slight coolant smell after a drive (no visible coolant), did not show a loss of coolant. No coolant around water pump, reservoir, hoses or froth under oil cap. Topped off with .25L of distilled water to max mark.

Inspected under belly pan and under carriage pans, no coolant or leaks present. No corrosion or damage present. Cleaned areas and polished exhaust, realigned exhaust tips due to new engine mounts.

Transmission mount in good shape, no tears or cracks. Outer foam disintegrated and was sitting on lower belly pan. Installation was easy with urethane insert once bracing was removed. Will update once I have some miles on car in regards to improved shifting, NVH etc.

Engine ground strap cleaned and inspected. No corrosion present.

All buttoned up and running great.

Transmission Mount Insert (Red/Sport - Torque Solutions) Update: Definitely an increase in NVH at idle and 3500rpm, a slight transmission whine is present also under hard acceleration. The car feels more composed during cornering, after I put some more miles on it I will determine if it will stay. Shifting and acceleration feel more direct, this may also be due to the new engine mounts.

I noticed a big difference with new engine mounts and installed them separate of the trans mount to make sure any vibration can be tracked. The engine mounts made a world of difference in ‘tightness’ feel.
then I installed the trans sport mount insert and have the same whine and what I would call a ‘rattle’ type vibration at idle. I will be removing it next week as I’m not tracking right now.

Also that is such a beautiful car! Love the all red tail lights on red as well.

Trying to convince @gjenk to use 911 badges as you have. Your thread providing some good examples. I really like that badging on base/s/gts.

Thanks, yeah I really like the 992 styling of the 911 badge. Its bold and clean. Was never a fan of the script style.

I ended up removing the inserts today. What I did was cut off the insert part and leave the surrounds to protect and insulate from any side to side motion of the trans. It still feels similar but the rattle type sound I heard and the trans whine on deceleration is gone. Amazing how much noise vibration can transfer thru the poly bushing.

I took the car out again on Sunday, and it seems the bushing settled in a bit. I have a longer drive planned this coming Sunday and will make a call on removal or trimming after that drive. Great idea to trim and leave the outer bushing intact.

2006 C2S Aero

Mileage 15229

- New Spark Plug & Coilpacks https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/por...eru-996ignclkt
- New Motor Mounts https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/por...co-99737504908
- Rear Body Panels Inspected/Cleaned/Sealant applied
- Drivers Side PSE line reconnected to vacuum fitting (Was Disconnected??)
- Exhaust Re-Aligned

Plugs appeared to be replaced at some point, coil-packs and Engine mounts (1/4" droop) were original and showing signs of age. Checked for any oil/coolant leaks as well as worn hoses. Everything looks in good shape.

I did notice that both cars once the plugs and coil-packs were changed ran pretty rough upon initial startup but smoothed out after a brief period. Car was taken out for an Italian tune-up after she was up to temp. Idle sat perfect and no issues running hard down the pavement.

A few photos post minor surgery. Definitely can hear a difference with both PSE exhaust operating correctly now. Exhaust tips sit perfectly up rite to bumper now also. Car feels a bit tighter but it wasnt too bad to begin with. The red 997 was much worse off in regards to the old mounts.
