i recently had my indy install the function first engine mounts and have found it to be a subtle but noticeable and enjoyable upgrade. highly recommend.

I went Function First after finding the Rennlines with yellow "soft" inserts too harsh. Yes, harder and somewhat exciting and engaging, but noisy, and things started noticeably vibrating in the cabin, upsetting my regular passengers who are used to softer rides in executive German sedans..haha! The Function Firsts look and fit like stock which is reassuring..they are made from new OEM replacements I believe.

Thought i'd throw this in here, a friend in my local 997 whattsapp group was concerned about NVH, decided to go with the mildest FF mounts and had to replace them with OEM equivalents. Too much NVH in the cabin. I went OEM equivalent and there's no extra NVH. Food for thought if you're on the fence.

Thanks for the input. To be clear - both sets were from FF? That is, you are referencing, the OEM equivalents from FF? vs the next step up (mildest) FF mounts? Or, were the OEM equivalents another brand?

TBH I am not sure what my friend did but I do know his first option was a set of FF mounts in their mildest form (not sure of colour) and they were too harsh for him but everyone's tolerance is different right.

Default Rennline

997.2 C4S Cabriolet, Six-Speed Manual

I like the Renline engine mounts. I tried blue and settled on yellow.

OEM mounts durometer at 65
Rennline adjustable mounts measure:
yellow 75
Blue 85
Red 95
My driveline is pretty dialed-in with Numeric short shifter and cables, powerflex trans inserts, and Rennline yellow inserts. Simply, the engine mounts and the trans mounts correctly position the connection from the shifter to the transaxle, hence, you to the gearbox. Engine mounts are easy to change and the OEMs will fail anyway. Tightening them up with more durable materials made my 911 feel a little more like a sports car.

Bought OEM mounts from Eeuroparts, a then did the 3M Windo Weld urethane mod that has been described elsewhere in forum and YouTube, brought my exhaust tips up 3/4-1” where they now look correct. I did get some new vibration at idle but none while driving. A good, cheap, easy improvement and I don’t drive spirited enough to need any thing harder.

Posting my personal experiences so far...I've been through 4 types of mount now so I can share with you my impressions:

1. OEM stock mount, had about 50k miles on them assuming they were never swapped out - in retrospect I feel there was a kind of loose swaying feeling when turning, but I got used to a nice comfortable soft ride with no vibration

2. Rennline semi solid - I put in the "street" yellow rubber - I think I went to a hard mount too fast, so the contrast with my experience with the stock mounts was just too much - definitely started to hear and feel things vibrating and rattling in the cabin...but really it's somewhat predictable given I was going from aged stocks to semi-solid's(!)

3. FF mounts - they're built by FF from new stock mounts, just with material injected into the gap...great decision sitting in between 1 and 2 I did enjoy it a lot, but over time have realized I DO want a slightly harder feeling and a more immediate steering feel

4. RSS - more like the Rennlines but I feel there's slightly less vibration. I see they come all assembled which is more reassuring than the Rennlines. It's nice to be able to self-assemble the Rennlines, but I do wonder if that creates a "user-error" margin of error in terms of assembling it.

Great feedback. Thanks.

I went to RSS years ago and never had a reason to try anything else.

I have these on my 997.1 and no additional NVH for me... main difference is that these are not fluid filled like the stock ones.

I just ordered mine from ECS Tuning. They're made by HT (Hamburg Technic). Has anyone used these?

I saw they are relatively cheap, but from reading comments of others that used em on other 911 gens.. they are lower quality

I've heard that the mounts from the GT cars are stiffer than the non-GT fluid-filled mounts without additional NV while adding desirable H. Is that accurate? Anybody swapped over to the Porsche GT-car mounts?
