Default oil filter debris

haven't seen this in my filter before, any ideas? Did a track day a couple of months ago,
change oil and filter 6 monthly about 5000km or approx. 3000miles.
2005 997 C2S M/T using Penrite 5w 50, Australian conditions. 85000km on clock approx. 50000miles.

Hopefully you've saved some oil so you can get it analyzed (SPEEDiagnostix, Blackstone, or AUS equivalent).
The fine, blackish material might be tensioner paddle grindings.

yes, that's what i was thinking. Unfortunately i had a Porsche specialist do an annual service and asked them to keep the filter for me.
After a few more km, i will change the filter to check again.

I'd say that's either dirt, carbon you freed up during the track day due to the higher RPMS, or tensioner paddle guide plastic. I don't see any larger pieces, so think you're OK. Should have the oil analyzed and continue to monitor it and the filter.

Have you resealed the oil pan or a valve cover lately?

the oil pan hasn’t been off in my tenure. It doesn’t look too problematic just want to see if anyone else had this.

your probably right, will get the oil analysed and check the filter again in about 1000km.

If it is plastic it will feel like sand when you rub it between your finger. If it is carbon or dirt it should break down further when you rub it between your fingers

thanks for that, will double check although it appeared to disintegrate when using a magnet.
