Default Liqui Moly 0W-40?

I've had my 2005 997.1 for a little over a year now. I changed the oil for the first time after 2500 miles with the same oil the previous owner used. Liqui Moly 0W-40. I did not have to add any oil because the prior owner had overfilled it. The oil filter showed a few small particles. I did a flush before changing (after sampling). Oil analysis is below. Should I be using a slightly heavier oil? An argument could be made that a thinner oil could make it to the IMS bearing. Also, the forum comments about MoS2 sound great, so I plan on adding it.
Thanks,
Rick

Which LM oil are you using? LeichtLauf High Tech 5W40? If so that is the right oil.

The analysis is fine except flashpoint which is probably due to diluting fuel. Are you doing short cold trips? Do you let the engine idle at start long?

I would pay attention and avoid short cold trips and cold idling. Next oil change I would add 1.5 bottle of LM MoS2.

I hear Pennzoil Euro in 0 or 5W40 (same with Quaker state and Shell - all same formula) is a better oil than LM in terms of : price, overall stability and how it holds up over the time.

Would be great if debate goes over 20,000 posts like the Covid Vaccine Threads.

Wanted to mention that all of my Porsche's over the past 35 years 356/911/964/993/996/997 have used Mobil-1 oil. No synthetics used in aircooled cars due to leaking through seals.

When I purchased my current 997 C4, the previous owners all used 5w-40 Liqui Moli and I had actually never heard of it. My Indy of 35 years recommended it highly and said he uses both Mobil-1 and Liqui Moli.
When I researched Liqui Moli on RL and other articles, Liqui Moli got excellent reviews so I stuck with it.

I have not had a long trip for several weeks.

Long cold idling dilutes oil and kills engines. Next, short trips. Make sure you start the engine, do not idle it longer than a minute and drive so oil gets up to running temp - 200F or so. Ideally higher temps (>212F) to evaporate condensed moisture.

Move to a 5w40. Analysis looks good, especially the wear metals. Not sure how Blackstone can recommend running oil longer without the TAN and TBN results, but ....

Personally, I like Driven DT40 for the .1 engines as it has higher zinc & phosphorus to protect the vlavetrsin and the Moly already in it so nothing separate to add.

So reviving this I was playing around with the Lubrizol tool posted by 997ajk above to see which additive packages gave the maximum protection on each vector...

Looks like BMW LL-01, MB 229.5, VW50500 give the maximum protections above the Porsche A40 spec.

Good news is that Motul 8100 Excess, Liqi Moly Leichtlauf High Tech and most oils marketed for European cars meet these specs.

Does checking for four standards on the oil can make the world a better place?? - I dunno but as Bruce says you gotta love a good oil thread....

I use Mobil 1 5W-50. It is a Porsche A40 approved oil. I don’t do oil analysis though. Just check the oil filter for debris each time. Knock on wood nothing so far.
