Such a thing doesn't exist. They don't need to discount.

I think they did a 10% off special for Black Friday in 2020.

I had no idea TPC has programs available! I ordered directly from DSC but have only seen their updates (last one is December 2020)

The DSC controller has been out on the field for a while. Has there been any damper issues after many thousands of miles in areas with bad surfaces? The reason for the question is that the controller activates the damper valves with a higher frequency than stock, thus there's potential for faster wear (or perhaps not).

Does a DSC from a .1 work in a .2? I have a chance to get one from a friend but it is coming out of a .1. TIA.

Yes, but the .1 requires an accelerometer which is not required in the .2 cars. So, either your friend or you will have a surplus accelerometer which will be easy to sell here.

I was told by DSC that I had to buy a new one when I accidentally bought a .1 unit for my .2 car

For an extra $100 you can also add launch control as part of the DSC controller upgrade. though I passed on it. DSC recently shipped me a 2nd unit by mistake and being the nice guy that I am I contacted them and offered to return it. Costly shipping error if sent to someone with less integrity. I recently installed the DSC unit and really haven't driven enough miles to discuss before/after driving comfort.

From what I've read the only difference is the accelerometer.

Thanks everyone for the feedback here. I just ordered. Will update the thread w/my thoughts after I put some miles on it!

I usually mod all of my cars. I've had the 997 for >10 years and this is the first mod (except for a bluetooth dongle). So good straight out of the factory.

According to Tom at TPC/DSC, a .1 non-turbo controller is not forward compatible with non-turbo .2 cars. Here is his clarification:
  • 997.2 and all year 997 Turbo takes DSC controller part # 02-997-06-v1-02.
  • 997.1 non-turbo takes DSC controller part # 02-997-06-v1-01. And requires 3-axis accelerometer.

I had offered to allow a friend with a 997.1 a test drive with my 997.2 DSC module once we installed the 3 axis accelerometer. But now I'm not sure that was a good idea. Any thoughts or knowledge on backwards compatability from a .2 to a .1? Can we do this test drive?
