Default 997.1 Roller

Still kicking tires, casually looking around....learning.

I discovered a 2008 Carrera 4S Manual...not sure what the options are

The add...from a dealer...said this which I found humorous: "Cylinder 6 bore scoring causing ticking noise. common on 3.8 engine. Drives strong priced accordingly" they are asking CAD $38000.

Since it will probably be undrivable soon...what is it really worth.

Wow. I'm new to the Porsche world but not new to cars. I just picked up my 2006 C2 6MT with a hydrolocked engine due to bad rings in Cylinder 3. If I drain the oil and re-fill it, the engine will actually start until the cylinder fills with oil again.

I picked this up for just over $10k USD. I'm not sure how "Common" scoring on the cylinder wall is but man, I don't think that's too big of a discount, is it? I guess it wouldn't persuade me to buy it knowing that but maybe it is as common as they say.

I'm interested to hear what others have to say.

Just me but I would deduct the cost of a new or a rebuilt engine by one of the best from their asking price. In US $ that would be between a $25K and a $30K rebate. Never mind the hassle and the likely backlog you may have to deal with to get this done. You may have an undriveable car sitting around for a year based on what I've read here.

Wow! Idiot dealer, of course they don't know what they are talking about, or are so morally bereft and looking for a sucker. I agree with Sandwedge, it's basically a roller. At least you would not need to waste money on a ppi. I'd say about $15 tops, and make sure you have something else to play with for at least a year or so.

Roller value is $10-$12k unless it has some really special equipment, then maybe as high as $15.

That seller is dreaming.
