Default Help please after pdk distance sensor repair

Can anyone help...completed the pdk sensor replacement for T design following this guide and all was great or at least I thought so. I'm having an issue when cold...the box hesitates in 5th and 7th gear but only until warm then it's perfect . It delays the change in 5th and can rev out in 7th but literally minutes later it's perfect and will continue to be until allowed to be cold again.. any ideas? I carried out a recalibration and box full using an autel ? Any help is massively appreciated

Did you do the bleeding procedure after reassembly? It somewhat feels like hydraulics issue. Autel is fine.

Default PDK calibration fails after Shift Rod position Sensor replacement

Hi, I have just had the T-design part installed in my 2013 Boxster 981 PDK as well.
While the installation through my trusted garage worked fine (and they checked if all the soldered wires as OK), while running the calibration (as per their info) it seems to get stuck during the procedure.
I have asked them already if they can touch base with T-design, but believe they didn’t. They are getting a bit lost of ideas, as far as I have understood from them. The question is if anyone (or best T-design) has any ideas on what to do in this case. per my understanding they have done the short and the long calibration procedure, but not necessarily the Bleeding, Can someone explain to me what the „bleeding procedure“ is supposed to be and/or has an idea to get this working. I - presently - doubt that its either a faulty PDK sensor from T-design, nor that it is a problem with the installation.
Any help is LARGELY appreciated
thanks in advance and by the way: great community here!!!
best,
andreas
(p.s. unfortunately I don’t have the error code (yet)

Hi everyone,
I'm the next lucky recipient of the "Possible R gear fault Driving permitted" message. I'm in a base Cayman 718 (2017 model year). The battery is fully charged and the car has been driving well for 77,000 miles. Woke up yesterday morning and got the error message along with "Engine control fault Consult a workshop Driving Permitted". The car won't move forward or backward, and if it's in gear the "2" just blinks erratically.

I used my bluetooth OBDII adapter with the Torque app and got a P1733, but when I use the iCarSoft unit I don't get any faults. I have disconnected the negative terminal on the battery a couple times to "reset" the ECU/TCU, but the problem persists.

Are there any other troubleshooting steps I can take to confirm what the issue is?

I'm always suspicious about the aftermarket code readers, I suggest you try to find somebody with a PIWIS to capture the code and sub-info. Where are you located?

1733 is a distance sensor error, there is no ambiguity in this case really
"1733 Displ. Sensor shift rod gears fault impulse signals 1/3 - Channel 3"

Thanks, guys...that's what I'm trying to confirm is if the OBDII code may not be telling the whole truth. I'm located in Boise, Idaho...I have a repair shop locally and a dealer. The cost of them spending a few hours with a PIWIS + my towing expenses is going to be about the same as me buying a knockoff PIWIS (I think).

Question, though...is the blinking gear "2" indicative of anything?

2nd question - is the Possible R gear fault Driving permitted message on the dash in line with the P1733 code?

PDK Rear Case Sealing Caps - Updated Part?

I’ve got a 987.2 PDK getting a new distance sensor. I had the Porsche dealer order replacement caps for the rear case, which are superceded from the original part number. Ordered 9G1.321.360.00 and got 9P1-301-125. This is what the new caps look like. Any concerns?

EDIT: Seems like part 9P130615 is the part needed for the 987.2 cover seal. It looks like the part I removed:

Yeah, that's what the replacements look like for me as well. I put them in as is and haven't had a problem so far.

This post was started a few years ago, so I thought I check in and see how people's sensors and repairs are holding up. I'm getting a 1733 error with increasing frequency and likely need to deal with it soon.

My most recent distance sensor replacement repair is holding up fine so far. Calibrated on the first try. Cayman drives like new. Client is very happy!

This died in June 2021, at 52,000 km.
It was replaced with a T-Design module, and in July 2024, at 79,000 km has performed faultlessly... not a single reset, error, or concern.
