PCCM+ coming in 2022 for 997 series.
Less drastic but no less useful is the expanded rollout of digital infotainment technology to fit older models as recent as the 997, with that variant's PCCM system due for launch in 2022 in response to demand.

Great news but the fact that it comes directly out of Porsche will it be affordable? My take, probably not!
Besides, there are many current and affordable infotainment options as we've seen in this forum but then again there are those "purists" who will fork over whatever Porsche decides.

I currently have a Pioneer HU with Wireless CarPlay and my car also has a multifunction wheel.
Thankfully the PCM 2.1 is simplistic, so you only lose the trip computer and the richer lap timer etc - I don't miss those that much anyways.
The only feature I think I might like would be RDS - basically have the song I'm playing via CarPlay show up in the gauges - and even that's only a "nice to have" feature, not a necessity.
$1300 won't be that bad, considering a good head unit (new) with Wireless CarPlay and all the other necessary components for the install would run close to that number - not counting labor.

I'm very partial to an OEM unit for looks and also for not having to splice wires (hopefully). I am very excited for this to launch. Should make my 997 more usable than my daily driver when it comes to infotainment.

Anybody want a lightly used Kenwood DDX9907XR and MOST adapter? I miss my volume ****.
Porsche is adding more after sales support and services. Dealers can be a "Classic Partner" and certified to maintain vintage Porsches. Ferrari is offering "Premium Maintenance" plans for cars as old as the 456. That includes newly engineered "old" parts for better reliability and performance and a "Ferrari Classiche" that certifies the car is factory correct. Looks like they are giving dealers additional revenue streams for when/if electrics take over.

This is great news. I'll definitely pay the "Porsche Tax" for a factory unit that is (hopefully) plug & play, matches the fit and finish of my interior, and gives me access to the individual settings menu (unlike most aftermarket units). I'll be curious to see pictures to see if they're going to match the Volcano Grey along the outside, and if the CarPlay will be wireless.
If your car is equipped with Sports Chrono, you've lost the ability to use some of the Sport Chrono functions, but more importantly, the individual setting menu. Most people don't miss it, but it's worth mentioning.

I'm totally doing this. Going to be odd to have the 997 with better PCCM than my 970.2.

Hoping it has Wireless CarPlay, if not I’m out.

I'm pretty certain the one for the 996 does not have wireless CarPlay.
