Moderators: Require and post member's car model in profile.
Because this forum spans two very different 997 models, I think that it would be quite informative and minimize confusion if the basic information shown on a thread starter's profile would also include his/her car's model number (i.e. 997.1 or 997.2).
Too often I've found that the thread starter does not include this information within the body of his/her post and I'm left wondering if his/her advice, concern, experience, comment, etc. pertains to my 997.2. I realize that some members may have several cars but at least for most of us this simple mod would go along way in ascertaining applicability to one's own car.
I don't know the effort to back track and require asking everyone's model but I think that a simple pop-up at login with a request to update your profile with that info would probably work.
PS: Ideally and instead of the 997.(1,2), I would really like to see: Model year and sub-model C2, C2S, C4S, Turbo, GT2, GT3, etc. Hey, if you're going to ask... go big, right?

Good luck.
Folks have been suggesting/complaining about the "987/981 forum" and the "Cayman & Cayman S forum" for a while now.. Talk about confusing..
..and this has been an issue even before the mass mod firing of 6 months ago..

Maybe the new mods can do this through the Admins. In the meantime it wouldn't be difficult to,as a group, insist the OP include or edit to include their model information.
As for going big ... Add a template to fill in when starting a post that could auto fill per the poster's profile and be modified if necessary.

Good idea Astur, I added to my profile . Didn’t see the info in yours! Lol couldn’t resist a ding lol.
Well I added but when I posted it didn’t show, ding on me lol. So it may be in your profile, I can’t figure out how to get it showing when doing a post, user error. Ugh.

Obviously, you can put it in your signature, but if using the mobile view on a phone, it doesn't display the signatures. You could add it to the location line in your avatar, but that only works if you have one car and only subscribe to one Rennlist Porsche forum, so not practical for me as I'm involved in 3 - 997, 928, Cayenne.
Would be great if the mods could make you check a box with at least generation when doing a post. You could also put it in the title of each response, which is normally left blank, but then you have to remember to do that manually and new members won't know to do it anyway.

yeah, let's further legislate even rennlist. I'm so done with new requirements for this and that. If I come here asking for help, then it is incumbent upon me to provide all of the information necessary to get it. If I don't, well then shame on me. This place is a great resource, and has certainly served me well for a very long time over 6 different Porsches. I think I have contributed too. If we load up on a bunch or requirements in order to participate, then I'll be moving on.
The things requested are of course a good idea, and folks should post up the relevant info when asking a question, at least as a matter of courtesy. Usually the gallery extracts it anyhow. But if we make more rules, then the value of the place decreases expontentially for me.

It’s a forum for entertainment. No one should be required to do or divulge anything. Kinda like forced narcissism, for those not feeling the need to list their cars.
