You won't need a discount. You can stay in a five-star hotel for under $200. The best hotel experience I've ever had in my life was in Cambodia. An upgraded room in a 5-star hotel including breakfast for $125/night, and every time I arrived back at the property an incredibly beautiful woman, impeccably dressed, would greet me with a towel soaked in iced rose water.
I've been through that area more than once and it is magic if you do it right. I got into Myanmar which was a hassle but didn't make it to Bagan and I will always regret that.
Being an American driving a Lambo is edgy to me but no doubt Doug has it figured out. While I've been to several countries there Bali/Indonesia is not one of them. The friends I have over there love the used Toyota Camrys they import.

The Ungasan is not mine . . , but we are somewhere in between.
You can rent a nice 2 or 3 bedroom villa close to the beach for around $2,000 per month.
There is truly something for all budgets there, but the really high end 5 star stuff is going to be a bit more than less than $200 a night . . . at least once Covid is over and the island is open again. I think Bali is still shut down to tourist visas as of a week ago. I am getting in on business visas and an investor kitas and we still have to fly into and quarantine in Jakarta for 5 days.

I'll post up our hotel once we officially take possession next month. Just waiting on the formalities of our PT PMA foreign investment company to be finalized so we can transfer actual possession of the hotel. Foreign citizens cannot legally own freehold property in Bali, but our 100% owned foreign investor company can own the property.
I actually will be happy to provide Rennlist discounts. Lol, we may be super cheap if Covid shut down does not lift soon.

No one was discussing politics and you will never find me in a politics forum because I just don't care. I was done with US before election and care less who is in office.
My biggest issues in US is how sensitive people are and easily people get offended over nothing . . . and you guys are screwed economy wise . . .The US is screwed because of the people and mentality here, not politics.
People in the US need to grow ***** and stop looking for things to be offended and whine about. Be grateful. Be happy. If someone writes something you don't like, don't read it. Move on. Speaks volumes that you and other dude even think I was commenting on politics and Pete's post was benign unless you fall into that super sensitive, whine about anything and everything give me some free stuff category.
Lol, neither of you guys would remotely make it in a place like Bali or Thailand. Too soft, whinny and entitled.

Other than that I agree with what you say except that I would never make it in Bali or Thailand. I would do just fine being born and raised in a European country where handouts and "free stuff" far exceeds what we get here. After almost 40 years in the US I have no issues with the differences. Have always been self sufficient and don't plan on making any changes to that no matter where I live.

Of course. Every country in that part of the world is quite different. Cambodia is poor. When I first went there I only wanted to see the temples of Angkor Wat and Angkor Thom and get out. The "Killing Fields" story filled my head. It could be because of the trauma they've gone through during the Khmer Rouge period. Or maybe they are naturally sweet people. F*cking love that country.
I'd love to come to Bali. I got married 6 years ago and my wife likes Europe, and has yet to respond positively to the idea of Asia. She hears stories about men going to Bangkok and doesn't get just how magical parts of Asia can be. And you can get a fairly nice hotel in Bali for under $50. This is based on 30 days from now but I'm sure it will double as bookings increase. This search is for 5-star hotels traveling 30 days from now. Like Doug said prices will go up soon. Surely the cheap ones are not like Dougs but demonstrates just how cheap it is to travel there.
5 star hotels in Bali
I like little boutique places, Doug. Sound wonderful. Congratulations.
