Getting an AWD GTS makes even less sense since that's essentially the same car as a C4S with X51 kit. If the purpose of the car is for limited sporty weekend use, the GT3 is better. If it's for comfortable commuting and occasional sporty drives, the Turbo is better.
Hey friend. I disagree.

The wide body is not a trivial matter and it makes the GTS very unique (in addition to all the expensive additions that do not exist in 997.2).
It's not just a cosmetic issue either ... any attempt to compare a standard 997.2 to a GTS or GT3 is lost.
For example: you can also say the same thing about speedster and sport classic but it will never change the fact and the justified market forces that speak for themselves.
Each model has its own uniqueness and they have been produced very little. Everyone with X51 but it's not just X51.

Not for nothing, the prices of speedster and sport classic that share the same GTS engine and the same transmissions (MT and PDK 7 SPEED) are very expensive and reach 400K and above (mainly because of the very limited production compared to the GTS).
Even on the GT3RS 4.0 you can supposedly say 'it's like a cheap GT3RS with a more powerful engine' but that's not true! And evidently, 4.0 is selling at much much higher prices.
GTS Coupe WB produced only 2,656 units worldwide. True, less than speedster and sport classic and this is the reason for the price gap.
carrera s / 4s will never have a GTS and trying to compare is psychological.
The GTS Coupe is a very special vehicle (right I'm biased) for a number of reasons including a single WB Coupe that comes with a PDK and rear seats and the MT is even rarer because of its reduced production in the world.

GT3 is a different vehicle and it's like comparing apples to oranges.
If possible in the future I will buy a GT3 in addition to the GTS.
My GTS I keep.

Cheers

Dude, just asked people to post up links to GTSs for sale, not debate the merits of cars they have never owned and maybe never driven.

That said, the GTS is a special car and well worth the price of admission.

RE: GTS versus Turbos

Normal PDK GTSs are generally cheaper than a comparable mile Turbo and Turbos are way more plentiful. I also think a low mileage 997.2 Turbo coupe in manual is going to be expansive if you can find one.

I had a 997.1 Turbo, 997.2 Turbo, 991.1 Turbo and 991.2 Turbo and have perhaps 100 or more track hours in various 997 GT3s. Sold my 991.2 Turbo in October 2019 to drive a 997.2 GTS.

RE: GT3s

Although I had some 996 and 997 GT3 Cup Cars, I have never wanted a plain GT3 for the streets. I have opted for other 2 seat cars of different brands which IMO are much more enjoyable to drive on the street than a GT3 if one is cool with having only two seats and a low and/or tight suspension

The GTS is a great daily driver. The GT3 is not. I need a back seat for kids and I doubt most would notice much of a performance difference between a GTS and a 997 GT3 while driving on public streets.

RE: 997.2 S with X51

I like wide body, center locks and front end of GTS and the GTS suspension is nice. I would imagine that a low mileage, 9972 S with X51 in manual is going to be pretty dang expensive if one could find one.

The same could said for Petza’s 2005 Ruf supercharger. Why not just get a real turbo? I may be wrong, but I believe the Kompressor produces around 430 hp and only 345 torque. On top of that, it is mounted on a NA 997.1 3.8 that is prone to scoring.

if one goes by numbers and reliability, the Kompressor makes zero sense when compared to a 997 Turbo or Turbo S.

As with the GTS, the sum is greater than the parts or on paper specs. Then one adds rarity into the equation as well. 997.2 GTS manual coupes are also pretty dang rare.

We have seen a few for sale lately, but that could be because of Covid, economy and the recent price spike so people are selling them now with a little more frequency.

Hey guys,

Can we keep this thread on topic please?

Simply a listing of GTS cars for sale on the web and your thoughts on those specific cars would be appreciated!

That's a great color combination! The price looks good too. I wonder if the cost of bringing it to the USA makes the price not so good?

The price is good if you don't mind some miles.

This is a base car with few options for a GTS.

That's an insane price. That's a good price for an S, never mind a GTS. I don't think that dealer knows what they have there. If I was looking for a cab, I'd be all over this. Carfax looks clean too.

64k miles is nothing for a 9A1 that has been properly looked after. That's honestly just the right amount of miles for someone who wants to actually drive their GTS and not feel guilty about racking up the miles. I find whenever I have a super-low mileage "collectible" car it always gives me a little hesitation to put the miles on it I really want to. Damn, buy that thing at $50k, put 10k miles on it in a few years and sell it for $60k @74k miles.
