For reference to others out there, when combining 6 speed, GTS coupe with that color combo, it is 1/1.
Yup. There is a single doppelgänger cab out there (vin: WP0CB2A97CS754781) 6 speed, macadamia metallic, natural leather in espresso with PCCBs and wheels painted body color. ‘Would love to see photos of that spec.
I'm not sure I follow the draw on this one. While all 6MT GTS' are fun, cool drives, the brown is so polarizing. I think the buyers got caught up in the 1 of 1 and the horse race of the auction. As a collector I don't see the payoff. Missing the exhaust trim, while in reality doesn't affect the performance is a major ding for that type of money. I'd get the GT car I always wanted. I don't see how the buyer doesn't loose money on this one. It is NOT the Turquoise Blue GTS. Then again, I keep being proven wrong on the pricing of these cars.
As a driver, it's awesome. ***, sport suspension, limited slip and a 6 speed. Nice leather interior. As a collector, I don't think so. Underneath, it looks just like mine. Not a garage queen. I drive mine. 25k miles now. Kudos to the seller getting top dollar.
Personally I find it a fantastic color. Classy. That being said both sellers had far deeper pockets than I'd bid for it.
Congrats seller! I’m curious to see if this will have any affect the GTS market pricing at all. Either way, I’m very happy with my RWD 6MT and like most GTS owners here, I have no plans to sell. 911 generations after 997.2s under $200k are not interesting to me and the air cooled rare and desirable models are out of my price range. GT cars are great but I can’t fit my son in the back seat. To me the 997.2 GTS is the ideal family weekend 911 with a strong market upside. IMO once 997.2 becomes classic status, we will see the mania in the GTS market.

I'd bet several hit the market for sale next week at very high numbers because of this auction. They probably wont be a super rare build though.
It is, indeed, a "1/1" build. But a unique example of one, of and in itself, might not necessarily appeal to two bidders with speculator/collector money to burn.
Granted, it is a 6MT, RWD, PCCB, Coupe with 20K miles, all the right options (except seat heat/ventilation and Sport Chrono software/switch/(worthless/fugly) dash "wart" and the rarest non-PTS color of all 997 GTS.
Still, any shade of brown, even this gorgeous Mac Met, will polarize some otherwise potential buyers.
(Might be a reason it was only spec'ed in 1% of all North American builds.)
It does pair well with the Espresso Natural (full) leather interior- but I agree with @Busta Rib , it's way too much brown for me.
Well sold, by about USD $40K.
No PCCB on this one. Agreed, “normal” market would be around $40k under what this hammered for.

For that kind of money, there are lots of options I would probably look into such as 997.2 Turbo, 997.2 GT3, 718 GT4, 991.2 GT3, 991.2 Turbo...the list goes on and on!!!

I’m with you on opting for a 997.2 GT3 but some people might want wide bodied RWD with rear seats.
Regardless of personal affinities, I think the entry fee for a .2 GT3 with less than 50K miles is at least $180K now. I'm consistently seeing list prices over $200K. Whatever is for sale is few and far between. Like several have said, there was a perfect storm for the Mac Metallic car with the unique colorway fueling the frenzy. The next few public sales of low-ish mileage coupe manual GTS with a conventional color (black, white, silver, grey) will be telling. Did this recent sale indicate the tide is lifting for all GTS cars, or was it just an anomaly? I think the truth is somewhere in between and we will see a slight bump ($10-20K) in valuations across the board.

I would like a 997.2 GT3, but in addition to, not instead of, the GTS. The rear seats and slightly more forgiving daily drivability are a big part of it. It's amazing how much I enjoy a car that my seven-year-old can ride in, since his enthusiasm for cars makes the whole proposition more fun.

Rear seats are the 100% deciding factor for some of us.

Nobody, so far, enjoys riding along with me when canyon carving.
I, personally, don't like sitting shotgun with a driver braking extremely late or committing fully to a line without forward vision to assess rocks in lane or a decreasing radius turn.
'specially with no shoulder, runout or guard rail and a 1000' drop into a ravine!

Yea, it's not fun at all for anyone to be a passenger in a car that's being driven hard on twisty roads. A weird feature of getting older for me is feeling car sick virtually every time someone else is driving, so I can't imagine what it would be like to be hurtling around back roads in the passenger seat. The back seat gets used when we're cruising around.
