Default 997 GT3 engine to Carrera Swap: Video

Hey guys,

looks like not many people have seen this so far. Really cool video about swapping a GT3 drivetrain in a Base 997.1 Carrera!

Best,
Dennis

Very nice! Out of curiosity, do you plan to make custom motor mount brackets and ECU wiring mods for Carrera to GT3 swaps? If 3.8L engine ever goes out, I'd do to the GT3 route since LA Dismantler is near me.

@DesmoSD I'm not affiliated with the video.. maybe the creator of this video is on here. Just thought I would share this as it was pretty fascinating!

Another interesting question would be: where do you get the GT3 engine and transmission from. Any suggestion of where to source those parts from?

LA Dismantler would be a good place to start for those in Southern California. I'm sure there are others but this shop is well known around here.

Knowing everyone involved with this build and having ridden in GiGi, this car and build is truly amazing. GiGi was a twin to my 06 911S. The GT3 motor revs so much faster and higher than the stock 3.8. The owner Dave is really pleased with the car.

We do joke with him about the cost of the build comparing his times with other local PCA members at our auto cross events.

I have sent a link to Dave and Jonathan and maybe they might post more additional information.

I was wondering where that GT3RS that got beat up in LA over summer was going to end up for this reason but it popped up for a little too much and someone is using it as a youtuber type project it seems.

It sounds like it was over 100+ parts including the engine. It'd be so into hearing all the details. So cool someone pulled this off.

That's nicely done and enjoy that it's sleeperish with the quad exhaust tips still
