Next year when we open up the cottage, Id like to be able to take the car there. Once off the way highway, I get about an hour and a half of one of the most beautiful roads my province has to offer. Thing is, once arrived, the cottage access is a 10km dirt road. It does get graded, but its still pretty ruff. Id creep in the GTI at 30 KM/h, not ideal but it was a lease so I did not really care much.
I was thinking of what I can do to the suspension / tire set up in order to make that 10km manageable. Would the DCS module help me creep along ? Any rally spec type suspensions that would help smooth out bad roads. I saw these Ksport online, but I don't think I can trust them.
This board loves the DSC Module if you have PASM. I have one and it does make a difference. Even at low speed. I think the 997.1 will need an additional accelerometer sensor to work with the DSC module (the 997.1 Turbo and the 997.2 can use their stock sensors). DSC will sell one with the kit.
It's not the ride that's the biggest issue, it's the dust and stones sandblasting the car as it leaves the tires. Think you'll have to creep along. My wife brought us lunch at the MX track this weekend in hers.
Yes it will need the additional sensor. They do sell it, so no issue there.
My Indie told me that he wouldn't upgrade with the DSC since why invest money into PASM, it will one day need replacing...Car has 95.000 kilometres. That doesn't seem right since people on this board really do seem to love it and many cars have way more mileage then I do.

Thank you for the feedback. In November, the car is going in for spacers and an oil change before I put it away for winter. Next year in order to mitigate dust and rock chip issues I was going to have the front and sides wrapped, I also saw a board member with a 991 do make shift mud flaps that you can barely notice.
if you only drive 30 mph, you dont need a rally suspension.
What would be a good rally suspension on the car ? My indie suggested Kw v3 or DCC, but reviews on those don't seem to soften the ride at all. I understand Tuthill did more then just suspension changes, but a toned down version of what they did should be possible no ?
The obvious answer is a full Safari build... lifted, knobbies, big visible mud flaps, extra lights. The paved sections will still be a blast, just with different input styles
I would get 18" wheels and tires - my choice is OZ Allegerita. Get whatever tires you want for whatever driving you do, and just drive it. I would not baby it. Either take it or don't. If you take it, I'm assuming you're driving up and down that patch every time you take the car out to civilization. Stay with stock suspension. Have fun with it. For me, babying that 10km is a total non-starter. I would look at my suggestions above (18s and have fun, or don't take it) or alternatively, store it somewhere beyond the dirt roads.

Once the OEM needs replacing you can upgrade to a Bilstein B16 DampTronic Coilover Kit. It will still retain PASM functionality, still work with the DSC controller, and will offer things like ride height adjustment. There are a few brands and models of aftermarket kits available that are PASM compatible.

It's not out out of the realm of possibilities. I think an outfit out of Chicago did this build.
