Anyone from Dallas ? 997.2 vs 991.1

Hey Guys !!
I have been researching for my 1st Porsche and was hoping to get help/advice regarding the generation of car I should consider. My search started with keen interest in 997.2 GTS - just based on online reviews and reading posts from many of you guys. However, I am yet to find an opportunity to drive 1, so I really am not sure if I will like it. On the other hand, I drove the 991.1 (Base and S) and prefer the S.
This is going to be a weekend car -- any suggestions ?
Also, if there's anyone from Dallas/FT.Worth owning a 997.2 and is willing to let a fellow Porsche enthusiast drive for few mins, I would really really appreciate it.
Thank you for in advance !!
Cheers,
Mayur

Hey there, we are having a monthly cars & coffee style meetup tomorrow.. you could probably show up there and introduce yourself, I bet there will be someone willing to discuss the 997.2 vs 991.1s with you..
It's sponsored by the local PCA chapter. The event will be at Turbo Coffee in The Colony, north of Dallas, from 8:30-10:30. I'll shoot you a PM with my contact info..

I bought mine sight unseen 1,000 miles away without hesitation based on the factory build specs of the car and all the stellar reviews. Never heard of anyone saying about the 997 GTS....."I just don't like it".
I'll say that about the 991 though. I just don't like it.

Love the energy in your response !!! I am slowly getting to learn more about Porsche family ![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Unfortunately, I have not found a 997.2 to test drive. But, everything I have read, seen and heard — it just feels like the perfect car for me.
once again, thank you for your message ... helps a lot !!!

They basically have the same engine (9A1) at least the 991.1 does.
The greatest difference will be in streering as the 997.2 still has that visceral feel from the hydraulic system. I can feel the road with my hands and feet.
The 991 feels more like a flying carpet with its electric steering.

GTS all the way ..
True I'm biased - but this is why:
In my opinion GTS 997.2 is the best Porsche (water cooled) produced.
I previously had a Porsche 997.1 S and I drove a 991 and GT3.
In my opinion there is nothing to compare 991 to 997.2.
The GTS feels much more 911 than any other modern Porsche.
The WB, hydraulic steering wheel, engine noises, sports exhaust, air intake and camshaft system 408HP, engine position, suspension, chassis and dimensions of 997 compared to 991, the interior (amazing), the rarity - 1 of 2656 coupe worldwide.
All of these and more fascinated me.
991 excellent vehicle but 997.2 - more (in my opinion)
Good luck with every choice

Congratulations on your new car !! So, coincidentally, I am in the market for a GTS as well.. I will PM you to get more details regarding your deal, if that's ok with you.
