Default Mouse Problem

Hey everyone, I had a mouse problem recently and realized when my AC stopped working. As you can see, the blower was jam packed, i first saw the cabin air filter had a few holes and then followed the issue inside the car.
I started taking things apart and realized I still have more to go. Does anyone know of any schematics or tutorials showing how to remove the lower portion of this unit? I dont know if it is possible without removing the entire radio unit but thought I would check. It seems like I have a few more screws to go before it will release.

I would just take the whole dash out at this point and make sure everything is cleaned up and repaired

good luck man.

I would agree with rtl5009. It won’t take you a lot of time to pull out the centre console and lower dash under the steering wheel, just to make sure they haven’t nibbled any wires.

I was just wondering how did you get them all out?

Thanks for the input guys. I am going to just pull it out. Well I just finished the new garage so it moved into that from the original. I went back in a day after pulling this apart (Sunday) and had a few small babies scattered around the garage. I think mom didn't come back so they were just big enough to go searching without making it far. As of today, a slight smell is starting so I don't think I got them all unfortunately.

You better check the wire harness and wiring in engine compartment.
Common issue are rodents climbing into warm engine bay and chewing stuff up. Happened to previous owner of a 996C4S I owned.

the somewhat good news is that mice don't chew anywhere near as much as rats, which are terribly destructive (and extremely unhealthy). Still, all that mice poop makes for a good hantavirus outbreak. Clean it well, and use a mask! Bad enough with Covid, don't need to layer that on too.

Wow, that sucks. Hopefully, they didn't damage any wires. I had a rodent problem when I parked my Supra outside. I did a quick search and found out that rodents don't like peppermint. I bought the Harris spray and some Keurig coffee pods and small bottle of peppermint oil at TJ Maxx. I placed a cotton ball inside the pod and saturated it with the peppermint oil. I placed them in the engine bay, interior and trunk. It actually worked. The only drawback is that I had to add several drops of peppermint oil every week to replenish it.

Default Mouse repairs

Check insurance to cover repairs. They covered wife 2009 997 wiring harness replacement.
