Ticking 997.2
Here's a video of my ticking sound. The ticking sound increases with engine RPM. This only happen when oil temperature is at 200 and above. Please ignore any moisture you see, it was raining. Some people say it's just the DFI - but it didn't tick like this before. Some people say it's the valve lifters, when they get hot they tick... @conceptDawg do you think this is normal? @Bruce In Philly what about you? @Charles Navarro what do you think? PS - this car has never burned a drop of oil. But this is my first time using LiquiMoly. Maybe I'll put DT40 back in and see if it goes away.

You will know best. The DFI cars do tick, but if it didn't make the noise before and it now does, something had to have changed. Did it immediately start making the noise after the oil was changed? It's quite possible that the new oil is lower viscosity than what you were running previously. Which LM product was used and did you add any Ceratec by chance?
Edit: to answer your question, the ticking started day 2 of the rally after some VERY hard driving. We were at 4krpm+ for 6 hours/day for 3 straight days. But again the ticking was only audible when the oil was 200 or hotter

hold on... @snaphappy, didn't you just have your HPFP changed recently ?

I have a very similar noise when lifting the throttle and slowing down on my 2011 GTS. I believe its something in the exhaust/cat.
I can try to make a video of it this weekend.

I went from DT40 to Liquimoly Leichtauf 5W40 with 1.5 bottles of MoS2. I didn’t have enough DT40 for the oil change So I drove to Napa, bought the Liquimoly and then did a three day rally in the mountains. I now have two cases of DT40 so I won’t run out again 😂

Regardless of the fact the HPFP was changed out as I've just read, I think changing the oil out is the first step.

Hope an oil swap fixes it. I think we talked about the oil situation before you headed off to the rally and I recommended leaving the DT40 in rather than changing the oil. From the "Another Used Oil Analysis" thread, the LiquiMoly numbers don't look all that great.in one of the samples even on a low mileage engine (JustinCase) as it had high Iron & Copper wear metal ppm #s at the 5,000 mile change interval, and that was with one of LM Moly additives. The other LM sample in the table looks good, but was also only run 2,600 miles.
I'd have left the DT40 in there. Not sure how well the base stocks of DT40 and LM play together so maybe do a flush with BR40, put the DT40 back in and see if the noise goes away.
I missed an oil change in my wife's car once and ended up going 7,800 miles on DT40. Other than the oil getting too acidic and the viscosity dropping lower than it normally is at 5k, the wear metals still were quite low.

Definitely not a normal sound. There can be some very light ticking sounds on the 997.2 engine but it's constant - like light lifter tapping. Yours isn't constant, it comes and goes. So it's not that. And mine definitely doesn't make that sound.
