^^Yes KeysInThePost is a great company and they do very good work. I've ordered from them 3x and always great results.

Ordered from KeysinthePost also, worked out great. Found a key fob on eBay with uncoded chip for $99. Just need to head to dealer for programming.

Will any two button remote with a chip work, or does there have to be some matching on the FCC ID?

AFAIK new key-housings (when not genuine) come without that "chip" (NFC?) and programming has to be perormed or you transplant it from the old one (so did I). Attached a picture where it is located. When I dissambled my old key, I kicked that that part out of its slot and searched it 2 days in my cellar around the work bench.

Thank you very much. That was helpful.

Seems like the build-your-own approach runs about S450 - $500 bucks ($250-$300 for the parts and key cutting, plus dealer activation for about $200).

Does the dealer cost significantly more than that?
yes. Significantly more. Porsche of Tacoma wanted over $300 for the fob without the blade, cutting, or programming. Their service department doesn't answer the phone or return calls, so I have no idea how much they will want to steal from me to program it.
The dealership in Miami was quoting about $1200 for it this summer when I was there. No thank you!

I find it odd that there isn't a 3rd button for a "panic" button like on every other car key fob. Regulations and all.

i guess porsche ppl don't get mugged 😅
