Have had four hip surgeries this year and won’t have the final for 6 months. My problem is I haven’t driven it all year since with hip can’t get in and out since 0% weight bearing for another six months then after final surgery another two months. Love it but feel like I’m ignoring it with only 29,000 miles after 10 years. Might replace with the Audi SQ8 but it’s obviously a difficult decision. Original owner 2009 C2S PDK 28,000 miles
I absolutely love this car, the launch edition, green over tan 997.2, I have watched the motorweek review where they drive this like a million times. To me it's the perfect 997
My favorite color combo. I assume 2S not 4S. Manual or PDK? Full leather?
Looks like one of the pretty rare 2009 launch cars. If it is it's a C2S and PDK since the 2009 C4S launch car was meteor grey. Either way, tough situation for the OP. Would hate having to make that decision.
To the OP, wishing you the best with your next surgery and continued quality of life no matter what car you end up with.
Sorry to hear about your surgeries and long recovery ahead. I broke both my legs at the same time in a motorcycle accident many years ago. I use to do a lot of crazy big dirt jumps while riding motocross. Well, that slowed me down for a bit and I spent 6 months in a wheel chair and a couple more on crutches. I feel for you and hope that you can recover quickly. If you think you may have a good recovery and be able to drive your dream machine again, then maybe she is a keeper.
I have also watched this old episode of motorweek many times. It looks very similar to yours.
I'm not sure of the extent or your surgery/injury but, consider this - if a year from now when you are recovered think of the enjoyment getting back in this beautiful machine will bring. Additionally, all thru the rehab you can be motivated by the thought of climbing back in and hearing those great 6K rpm sounds. Further, you probably won't be able to replace it for what you get for it. If money is not a factor, I think you will regret selling such a magnificent launch edition. After you are fully recuperated if you find yourself not using it then maybe consider selling not before. I hope you have a full and speedy recovery!
Hope you recover well after each of those surgeries. As for the car - totally depends on how you think you will use it after recovery.
If you think you will have definitely moved on from a 997, then sell it and get your SQ8 now itself (or maybe a Macan to stay in the family :P)
But if you think you will be able to enjoy the car in a year, just find someone trustworthy to start it up, do short warmup drives once in a while until then.
You can always get back into the 997 game even if you sell the car now - but if you love the color, then it's going to be hard to find an "exact" replacement..
OP - hope that the final surgery and recovery goes well. Best of luck to you; as others have said above, if you think there is a chance you will be able to get back in it after recovery, that may provide good motivation.
I traded my 09 C2S Cab PDK which was ordered as soon as the order guide arrived at my dealer. Reasons similar to OP. Oh how I wish I still hag it. One of the top 10 biggest bad decisions I’ve made. Love my Cayenne Turbo, but just isn’t the same.
