Radio mysteriously turns on

I had a similar issue...
when u want to turn radio OFF, push the left **** and HOLD for 2-3 seconds.
i was just doing a “ quick push” of button and radio WOULD go off but it really goes into a TEMPORARY
kind of ‘ off’ and then suddenly come back on by itself.!!!!....(kind of like a MUTE)

Mine does this but it's only happened on the corkscrew at Laguna Seca. Scared the hell out of me the first time. I think it has to do with the weight of the ***** and as the car ages the resistance in the switch decreases enough to allow the heavy **** to essentially push it's own power switch on. I could be wrong but that answer helps me sleep at night.

This happens to me all the time on XM Sirius. When I have it muted, if I drive under a bridge or behind a building, when the car is again in range of the satellites, it automatically unmutes. I usually mute the radio when I’m busy with enthusiastic driving, so it came as quite a shock the first couple of times.

For anyone who's PCM also has Bluetooth for phone call connectivity, turn off the Bluetooth and see if it continues to do it. If that fixes it, have the dealer update the software on the PCM. That's what fixed it for me in my Cayenne. Sirius will do system updates on their side that for some reason make the PCM do this.

Just to be clear, is this NOT the road information thing? I was having a nice cruise in silence and just thinking when all of a sudden, my stereo turned on super loud to a random station. It did it a couple more times on that trip. Later, I found out, somehow the road info. option had been selected in PCM, possibly when my mechanic did a hard restart on my car. Once I turned that option off in PCM, it never happened again. The first time it happened, it scared the bejesus out of me and I seriously could have crashed.

My radio has had worsening problems with not working in the cold, which turned into not working at all most of the time, which turned into turning itself off and on at will, with the screen looking like the matrix.
I had forgotten about it til reading your post.
I have a recurring CEL for misfires every few years and "reset" it by disconnecting the battery overnight. Maybe that helped the radio poltergeist.
I'm going to recap the amp and if that doesnt help, Im getting a new head unit.
Lots of threadson this.
