Default Brake Fluid Brand

I'm gearing up to do a brake flush on my 997.1 C4S. Any recommendations on what type of brake fluid? No track but normal driving.

Motul 600 is what I've switched to, felt very consistent pedal pressure and did not feel any brake fade at the track. Purchased on Amazon.

I use Motul RBF 600 in all my cars. Every spring I load 6-8 L into the Motive power bleeder and renew them all. Takes a couple hours.

We have lots of AP Racing and Ferodo Brake fluid options in stock and ready to ship. If you're not going to track the car, AP Racing DOT5.1 is an excellent choice. It's extremely high quality, you'll never fade it on the street, it's only $12.95/bottle, we have it in stock and ready to ship today, and we are a long-time forum sponsor. Thanks for your support!

What's up with the SRF shortage? I didn't remember it used to be that expensive?!

Can different brake fluids provide a firmer/softer brake pedal feeling? Or is that just kinda psychological?

I don't think that's a difference that could be felt. It's more about at what temperature they boil. When that happens you're trying to push a gas instead of a liquid and that doesn't work.

I had a caliper go bad on one of my vehicles once and start dragging, who h heated up one wheel on a highway trip and when I came upon a traffic jam went to apply the brakes, had virtually no braking until I pumped the pedal 3 times and moved over to the shoulder also engaging the parking brake to come to a stop. The higher boiling point fluids aren't just for racetracks. They provide a greater margin of safety due to component malfunction. I run it in the Porsches for the temperature capability, but I run it in the rest of the vehicles for the safety reason above and so I only have to stock one fluid type and can renew it all pretty easily with the Motive bleeder. All my vehicles have DOT approved stainless lines too - that helps more with the pedal feel and also from a safety standpoint where a tire gator is less likely to rip the line apart than a rubber hose, plus the stainless lines being Teflon inside don't swell with age.

Same here. Used it for years in my NSX. Never an issue.

I know getting involved in fluid choices is a black hole, but Porsche spec is LV Dot 4.

Amen to this, but still helpful to get a some input. Guess I'll need to line up some Pentosin or ATE in the next week or two.
