For what it's worth, I heard of a few 993 owners who said that when I had mine but I've yet to experience that with my 997. Are you driving it immediately on a cold start? What RPM range?

Yes. Happened to me going in 4th on the first cold shift of the day. Only the first shift. I've seen a number of posts about the same.
The solution is simple: change your transmission fluid to Mobilelube PTX. I have a writeup on it somewhere. I think Porsche's 100k mile lifespan for the tranny fluid is bogus. After 10 years it should be changed no matter what the miles. Mine was black and funky.
Had zero issues in 8 months since ive changed it. It only takes an hour so going forward I will likely change over 2-3 years.

Hey guys,
Just found an issue on my 06 911S when I took it out last night.
When shifting into 5th, the rpm's stop around 4-5000 and I can hear the motor rev up but no increase in speed.
Would that be an issue with the snychros?
Thanks.

Should do it in other gears too.
