Default Wheel Spacers on lowered 911

Hello,

i have 997.1 Lowered on Ohlins coilovers to the maximum. I was hoping to order and install wheel spacers for a better aggressive look. 15mm/10mm would be ideal but thinking it might be to much due too it be lowered so much (or not?) . Another option I like is going 12mm/8mm to add a bit more clearance. Also they come in black or silver, does it matter, Will the colour show after installing? If so, silver wound be a better look on mine but I think ECS spacers (ones I decided to go with) only come in black. I’ll double check

This might be a difficult topic to discuss due the not knowing exactly how much lowered or how much clearance left on the Carrera.

Any comments or opinions would be greatly appreciated.

thanks
Porto

I have HR lowering springs but not quite as low as you. Especially the rear. My front is not quite what you have but close. That said I have ECS 15mm rear and 5mm up front. My sig photo should give you a sense of the stance. Stock wheels/Widths and no rubbing lock to lock and the tires are actually 245's up front and 295's out back so ....I could have gone with what the forum recommends which is 15mm back, 7/8mm front but I like what I did. A little more tucked up front and flush in the rear.

There were some posts before on how to measure the height the car was really lowered by => and using very similar steps you can measure much of a spacer you will need.
Typically folks install widebody offset rear wheels to fill the arch after lowering => that's about 10-12mm difference I think).
If it is time for you to get new wheels, get ones with smaller offsets => that's what I did after lowering with Eibach springs (slightly less lowering than H&R).

the lower the car goes, the more the wheels sink into the wheel wells because of camber. therefore, the more aggressive you can go with wheels or spacers to a degree before getting stupid.

Easiest way to get to where you want to be is this: Put a straight edge, piece of wood or whatever on the the ground and then up against the fender. Then measure the length between the tire and whatever you use and there's the mm to make it exactly flush. Add or subtract to your taste. As for the color of the spacers I've used, they were all just metal color and blended in with the wheel/hub. Not visible.

Thanks to all for the input.

iI did my measurements and seems like I can go 15mm/10mm. Now saying that,lol.. I do like the Stealth look of my 911 sitting lowered. So I decided to scale back just a bit and go with 12mm/8mm. See how she’s looks.

this is a odd number combination on here which I haven’t seen or read up on. Just curious if some guys on here have this combo sizing and there thoughts ..?

Thanks

Unusual combo sizing that I don't recall seeing. Doesn't mean it doesn't exist and can't be bought though. Just curious, why not what's basically considered the standard 10/15 spacer setup?

If you are lowered to the max you can likely go with bigger spacers. This C2S on PSS10s was set very low with 15mm all around, tires are stock sizing.

Right!!

Im over thinking this whole experience and process. I don’t want to much of a bulky or aggressive look. So leaning towards the 12/8 combo. And even though the measurements show it should work, by looking at the naked eye it’s going to be close and not wanting to take chances. Reason for going the safe route...

try and error is a good way of going about this . Dosnt work buy another set. . $250 US for the whole set, isn’t bad. But by the time it hits Canada we’re I’m at .. purchase, rate, tax’s and Duty = $450-$500 can

but I am intrigued and interested on the 15mm/10mm

lol

Yes .. I’ve read this on different threads also and you would think it would been enough to convince me.

Nice looking 911 and setup with the wheels .

I was running 15mm/15mm with Eibach springs on stock PASM shocks (235 fronts/305s rear), and did not think it was too aggressive. totally subjective though.

The black car above was my visual confirmation that I could run that size spacers without issue.

You can always swap them around but I think 10mm front and 15mm rear will look good. 7/15 looks good to me too. Kind of win/win. Post pics. when they are on!!

Subjective topic so I don't know that you're over thinking it. You just want it your way. Me, I want the tires flush with the fenders. Not "almost" flush or beyond flush. You want it a little inside flush so just get what you want. It's your car so of course you should have it set up the way you want it regardless of what others do. Besides, the differences we're talking about here (2-3mm) are so scant as almost undetectable.

I agree on the 2-3 mm being not Relevant for most and more of a mental satisfaction for a few. I will post pictures in a couple weeks.

One thing about this great website, it’s gives you information, knowledge but also confidence for guys like me to go ahead with small projects!
