^^^Before people get keyboard happy they should realize they know nothing about the person they are calling out.
My #'s are fairly accurate and like very few on this Forum, I have experienced engine issues via ownership of these models since my 356 days.
Not being a mechanic, I've spent my share of hard earned money on expensive repairs

Here's a small selection from over the years:

Thx - Lots of model relayed engine issues too. --->
That Schwarz Black 911sc I'm leaning against (above) is the car that Pelican Parts Owner Wayne Dempsey used in his "101 Projects for your Porsce 911" book he wrote in the 1990's - I have a signed copy in my garage.
The engine was rebuilt due to broken head studs.

I'm getting a better idea of the 997 demographic--the posts from guys who are jealous of Groovezilla's hair tells me a lot.

With hair like that, I picture you as more of a Camaro guy!

Wait till someone comes out saying that they have never been harassed (sexually) and watch the aftermath.

Great question - I did own a 911sc Cabriolet - I built it from a 1983 911sc Targa.
My favorite car was my 1953 356 Sunroof Coupe which was completely original with original Jade Green paint and tan leather interior. I wish I had more photos of it. The photo below is a copy of a 4x6" photo

Also, am a true fan of Silver although thru the years I have fallen in love with Grey - Meteor grey being my favorite (Did you know they made Meteor grey 911's back in the 1980's?)
My Ferrari was the only car I felt looked best in Red

Here's my 1953 356 Sunroof Coupe at gas station near my house, my Silver 911sc Cabriolet I built from 1983 911sc Targa and my 1979 Ferrari 308GTSI
The 1983 911sc Targa was a really nice low mile example and 1983 was the first year of the Cabriolet introduction so figured it would be "the car" to build from - I just could not find a Silver/black Cabriolet anywhere - Lots of Silver/blue Cab's were made but hardly any Silver/black one - Thought it would be fun to make my own. After all they are the same identical body as the Targa - Just needed some bracing panels which were available from factory.

FYI, Porsche dealers and indies are reporting about a 1% failure of IMS bearings on M97 engines. So, I wouldn't say the engines are crap. You can have a 1% failure of any Porsche engine.

Don't start a thread about that factual information - The IMS/Bore Scoring followers/drama queens will come out in force against you.
Check out my Bore Scoring thread - Starting to get entertaining - Dealing with Art Directors and being a Landlords for 35 years has given me tough skin

Just because you had a lot of cars doesnt mean the numbers you quote are remotely accurate

Its like the guys on here who say "well my car doesnt burn any oil and no scoring evident right now so my car is perfect and nothing will ever happen to it - i dropped the pan to prove it". The only thing it proves is that it doesnt have scoring NOW. Hopefully never does but doesnt mean it wont

My 993 had +60,000 miles on it and no SAI issues or top end reqd - therefore the incident of having to do top end rebuilds is zero by my estimate......

Throwing out anecdotal estimates is of no value. If you have numbers from a reputable publication source then fire away but otherwise they're meaningless

Can you provide the source for that claim? As Groovzilla points out, would be nice to have facts (although all he provided was his own guesses i believe - would love to see the sources for those)

If you want to provide facts then pls tell us where you got them from.

Wrong again Vern1 - I know my stats because I've lived them. The % of failures in Porsche engines has always existed and my numbers are accurate
You're lucky your 993 engine didn't clog - Huge % did and 2 of 993 engines clogged out of the 4 I owned - Fortunately both were 1995 OB1 Emissions and I was still able to pass the test. - 1996 and later won't pass emissions when clogged.
