No OEM brake light delete on my car.
I was initially going that direction, but decided I liked the look of the OEM panel better than the plain TT one. Not as clean, but It's a bit more visually interesting to my eye and only the OCD will notice the difference.
Removing the OEM panel apparently requires interior trim/carpet removal that I read breaks clips and is a bit tricky.
Putting the OEM retractable one back on would entail a panel swap.
With the light unplugged, it is barely noticeable.
If both lights illuminate, just more warning to the guy behind you, though I've read the tail obscures the OEM light, hence the light in the duck.
Not sure what Getty charges now for the tail w/ 3rd brake light and primer service as their website is down.
I recall in the $1600 range, plus shipping...but that was 3 years ago.
Prep and paint will vary by shop, but I recall about $800, again done 3 years ago.
All in, I'm guessing $3K.
Good luck.

I like the Getty tail just fine.
Replicates the original Sport Classic.
The original was referred to as a "sugar scoop" shape.
I am wresting more with doing the 3rd brake light delete panel.
Look into the "Flying Ducktail"- it is lower profile. Might be pics on this thread. I recall a post that they were defunct.

Someone above thinks it sits too high and I tend to agree. it's also not wide enough to match the width of the 997. NB is better than WB in that regard. The 991's duck looks so much better since it's wider.

Nate, I stand corrected on sugar scoops. Thanks.
I think the duck on the 991 is OK, but not visually superior to the Getty/Sport Classic. It is not appreciably shorter, nor does the angle of attack look shallower. But is is wider, which affects the visual proportions.
The 911.1 rear end body panels are a mish-mash of weird angles driven by the requirement to widen the engine cover- likely to provide additional cooling for an engine completely covered by plastic, necessitating two cooling fans. The designers took that extra real estate from the rear quarter panels- a bit of a hack job to my eye. (I nearly bought this exact car in 2016.)
The 997's *** is "wrinkle free", and the duck is slightly wider than the OEM retractable wing- which looks f-ugly. I never understood owners extending it for pictures or just leaving it up while parked:
The Sport Classic pulls off the "narrow" duck on a widebody most elegantly, and is likely responsible for the success of the Getty duck, as the OEM has been NLA from shortly after Porsche decided not to provide the part to non SC owners. It actually tapers at the sides and is narrower than the Getty version.
There certainly seems to be a demand for ducks these days.
The 992 Sport Classic tail is narrower than the 991 version- but they fixed the jigsaw puzzle panel design nicely. They changed the singe continuous longitudinal seam on the 997 engine cover to a singe lateral one that blends in when viewed from behind.
Both the 991 and 992 versions have a rear fascia that cants slightly forward of vertical, while the 997 Sport Classic and Getty's is more close to 90 deg vertical.
I like them all.
But my fave is the 997 Getty version on a fat ***.

There is a replica Flying Duck Tail sold on Ebay but I question the quality. If you like the lower-profile look, also look into the Moshammer duck for the 997.

@Busta Rib I looked for your reference and stumbled upon a carbon fiber Sport Classic duck for Euro 800 ($866 USD).
Ad says carbon, but underside looks like fiberglass with carbon vent surrounds.
Looks enticing at that price as a Getty is at least 50% more:
E-Bay carbon fiber Sport Classic Duck
And another E-Bay 997.1 (single snorkel) primed duck from some outfit in South Florida:
FIberglass Getty style clone
Lots of pics in the ad.

There is also this company working on a Singer style ducktail for our cars. They have a 996 one already that look pretty cool.

I suspect because their mould/tooling probably used an original as the pattern.
