There are partial bypass (Gundo, Fister) and full bypass I believe. Search YouTube and you will find examples of the sound difference.

Gundo/Fister is by far the most common and is almost std procedure. You keep your original mufflers but it's a permanent job that requires welding to be reversed.

Another common solution for even more exhaust noise is X-pipes. Either with 200 cell cats or with cat delete. Pics below.

Complete muffler bypass is undriveable - you'll hate it after the first week. Get 200 cell Hi-flow x-cats and performance mufflers (Fabspeed, Gundo, Fister, FVD, Cargraphic, Tubi, etc) and you'll be all set without any codes or issues.

Agree re 200 cats and modded muffler but it can throw an O2 CEL. Mine required O2 spacers to get rid of it

With the 997.1 you arent really "bypassing" anything. With the 997.2 people generally remove the centre muffler but no such thing on the .1. You are just opening up the system with freer flowing cats and cans. As Petza said you can rid of them but its pretty harsh. You can find clips on youtube
