$45k with a full leather interior is a bit of a steal.

I love brown on 911s, personally, but it seems like they always struggle on resale.

I agree it's the color. The PNW isn't known for their flashy cars and showing off wealth for the most part.
Thats a good dealer up here from word of mouth.

Yes. 991 prices are crashing into the 997 party. Just went to carmax.com and saw a 2010 997 base and 2012 base 991 both manual and both < 60k miles priced at exactly the same amount $49,998
The only thing i hate about the 991 is the size. The electric steering is not that bad. I will now test drive many 991's and be 100% sure i really want a 997 to avoid buyers remorse.
If anyone already been there done that please share you experience. ( i mean started off wanting to buy a 997 badly and ended up with a 991 for better or worse.. :-)

According to many, the 991 is creating a lot of turbulence in the market. Currently, people are confused why the newer model is the same used value as the older. Given that people seem to prefer the 997 to 991, it would make sense that the prices will cross over very soon to show a much more clear difference in value. To me the lower-spec 991 is the next 996 although not quite as hated. It's a very "blah" car. No offense intended!

I think your example misses a lot of meaningful points;
Options and mileage have impact on price. Probably more than age (given the small difference).
Porsche sells better in warm weather states.
Carmax does not differentiate between 997 and 991. They are all 911 to the general buying public..

Have you checked out CarGurus car value calculator? I've ran a handful of scenarios and it's surprisingly accurate for current marker conditions. Manual cars bring a bit more these days but unlike other sites this one at least doesn't devalue either of the options. There are obviously other factors and options but apples to apples it's a decent start.

I have run several cars through the CarGurus value calculator, too. The trade-in value they show for my car is very close to what I have been offered. The resale value is about 10% too high.
