Friend's neighbor has 06 Carrera with major piston slap. Car runs and drives but sounds really bad.
Details on the car:
Black on black, manual, needs paint on front and rear bumper and right 1/4 panel. 85k miles, runs and drives but has check engine light on. Tires are in need of replacement.
Carfax says 1 accident reported and 2 other damages (could be anything), 3 owner car.
What could something like this be worth?

So, basically a roller, that needs body work and new tires. Price rollers. Price the body work. Price tires. Price a new motor. Then you'll know where you stand. Make an offer based on that number. Can you do the work yourself?

Seems like these threads happen every single week....
1 accident, 2 damage events, blown engine. This car is worth $5k USD. Its basically a paperweight.

My 4.0L rebuild was about 20 grand...I love the car with the added power and torque...eventhough I lose any new car bug when I drive it; it definitely was not the high point of my vehicle based financial decisions.

I've seen 8-10 when they're otherwise good except for the blown motor. I don't think $5k is too far off on one that also needs bodywork, but it may also depend on the other equipment in the car. Does it have special seats, pricey aftermarket wheels, extra interior leather bits. If some of that stuff, could easily be a money maker as a part out if someone had the time and space to do it.
