Seat belt chime
I’ve asked the dealer to turn off my chime in the past however they will not due to legal reasons. Has anyone successfully had theirs turned off on a 997.1? I’m looking to have it turned off. I understand that I can wear my seat belt to turn it off, it would just be nice to be able to have it coded off.
Thanks,

Yes I have searched the topic however I can’t find the answer if it can be turned off or not.
Yes i do drive w/ my seatbelt off when I’m driving in the neighborhood going to the bus stop and driving to a other neighbors house. The faster you drive the louder it rings.

Very easy solution - I have a spare seat belt metal end and I cut the plastic side that loops thru belt down in size so when buckled into seat belt buckle it is only about 1.5 inches high and can't notice it and doesn't interfere with the side of your hip - Problem solved
Mines in the car in garage but here is a quick photoshop of a buckle I pulled off google:-

TThis worked for me:
I live at the end of a dead end road and have an 1,800 foot gravel driveway. I sometimes need to move small stuff as the driveway runs through the woods. It's nice to take it off on my own property. Otherwise, I always wear it:Originally Posted by touareg Go to instrument cluster, and I believe if you have for example the coding of 17204 you need to figure out what position to change. I changed mine to 15404 (need to scan my car again, been 2 years) -2 for the seatbelt from 17xxx to 15xxx and +2 for the country code from xx204 to xx404, which gets rid of door chime and key in ignition.
Acording to durametrics chart, which is close but wrong:
For the options below are summed together, so if you have brakepad wear sensors, that is +1, seatbelt warning +2, low washer fluid +4, navigation +16. So your coding *should* have the number 23 in it, like:
23xxx or something. So you want the seatbelt warning gone, you remove the +2 i.e. 23 -2 is 21.
Cayenne Instrument Cluster Coding
??xxx: Extra Options
+00 - No additional choices
+01 - Brake pad wear warning active
+02 - Seat belt warning active
+04 - Low washer fluid warning active
+16 - Radio-Navigation active
So your new coding is 21xxx for example.
The reason for all the weird numbers is because the coding is actually binary, so a module will have 2 digit binary coding for example and that is what that position is for in decimal (2 digit binary is 0-3 decimal) and they say that is position 1 or whatever, but then positon 2 and 3 has a 3 bit binary number assigned to it.
I had to deduce my coding, as it didnt match what durametric said it would be for the options I have, but removing the 2 and adding the 2 to the correct positions made my car silent, if anyone is really interested, I will pull my coding again. Been this way I think for 2+ years. I *think* but don't recall, the light on the dash will still come on.
xx?xx: Country Setting
0 Germany (DE)
Speeds in km/h, fluids in liters, temperature in degrees Celsius, pressure in bars, time in 24 hour units (“military time”), no chime when key is in ignition and driver door is open.
1 Europe (EU)
Speeds in km/h, fluids in liters, temperature in degrees Celsius, pressure in bars, time in 24 hour units (“military time”), no chime when key is in ignition and driver door is open.
2 USA (US)
Speeds in MPH, fluids in American gallons, temperature in Fahrenheit, time in 12 hour units (AM/PM), chime when key is in ignition and driver door is open.
3 Canada (CDN) Yesterday, I changed my coding from 15204 to 17204 and the seat belt chime is gone.Very easy.
1. Start Durametric / PIWIS - read or wait for car info to appear, then
2. Click Instrument Cluster
3. Select option "Coding"
4. Scroll down to "belt buckle - Driver's side", click "yes" to change to "no"
5. Scroll down to "belt buckle - passenger side", click "yes" to change to "no".
6. Save or exit coding

Like many others here, I was fed up with the constant noise my Cayenne was making while driving in parking lots and short distances... so, I did what I do best - found a solution!
I've read several threads asking about this - most of them get into some kind of moral debate and none of them ever produce an actual answer. I am.
How to:
Leave the 2 pieces of the connector disconnected.
Your vehicle will now think that your seatbelt is connected at all times. It will not interfere with any other systems (such as airbag)
If you don't have access to a 100ohm resistor, I have plenty.
I can mail you one for $5, including shipping.
Simply send $5 paypal to euclid AT mail.utexas.edu (replace the AT with an @ and remove the spaces)
I'll even cut and bend the resistor for you so you can just plug and play.

How to:
- Look under your driver's seat. (You may need to adjust the front of your seat all the way up (towards the sky))
- You will see a yellow connector, like this: http://i46.tinypic.com/25s7hab.jpg
- To disconnect, press the tab in the middle of the connector, and pull. (towards the front of the vehicle)
- Press the leads of a 100ohm resistor into the female contact points of the connector.

Burning Brakes
My previous owner didn't believe in seat belts and had it disabled. Life is good. FYI your airbag light will flash 10 times on start up but will then extinguish.
