Default GT2 Fenders on 997.1 w/ Aerokit?

I am currently reviewing fender flare options for a 997.1 with front aerokit. Others my not agree with me, I feel the GT3 fender flares looks like a cheap adhesive aftermarket kit. It's definitely not my intention to offend anyone, they are just not my first choice.

After searching the forum without luck, I am curious if the fender from the GT2 will bolt on to 997.1 4S? I would assume the fenders would fit but I am most concerned about the piece of flare that covers the actual front bumper. Would the GT3 bumper piece lineup as an alternative to the GT2? Any thoughts, experiences or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

as far as I know, the part on the bumper should line up know problem. you also need the new turn signals that are wider

but, you know the price of those carbon fenders you are looking at, right? they are almost $10k for the pair.

i have a pair of carbon kevlar Cargraphic wide front fenders for the 997 that give you the added width without the lip. if you want something cleaner than they might work for you. and then you dont need the bumper piece

msg me if you want pricing....I'll post some pics later

Thanks for the heads up on the price! No, I was not aware of the cost or that they were carbon but it does make sense. The Kevlar Cargraphic is a bit too rounded of a look for what I want. Any other suggestions to avoid the carbon price?

Only other option that I know of that looks decent are the Getty or Cup fenders. I have no idea how good the fitment is on these. Could be a lot of work to make perfect, especially if you are picky (which it sounds as if you are.)

I don't understand the front fender flare thing on a 997. The edge profile of the front and rear fenders should match each other and no one makes that lipped flare for the rear fenders, so once installed on the front, it makes it look like there's something missing from the rear.

Maybe someone makes a set of matching add on flares (other than say a Libertywalk kit which ruins the lines of s 911). Something g like what I did on my widebody Cayenne project, but I'll tell you that adding those and blending them into the body and fenders was a ridiculous amount of work, but it looks right because the front and rear match.

same on my pickup

Look at most sports cars and see how the edge profiles of the fenders match each other, as an example a Nissan GTR - the fenders go out then the outside profile is flat and straight down, but its the same at the front and the back.

You can mod your car anyway you like of course, but it's a lot of work to fit cup flares and I don't think is an improvement on a 997 unless you can do something similar on the rear.

Petza914 I typically would agree with you here. The reason I feel you can get away with it on the 997 4S is because of the large hips in the rear. To me, it seems like something is missing in the front.

If the front needs to be widened to correspond with the rear then the whole fender should be made wider like the whole rear fender has been made wider in order to have a cohesive design - the fender lip treatments should still match IMO.

which is exactly what the cargraphic genders do. They add an extra inch of width to each side up front while maintaining the factory curves and lip treatment.

the guys at Cargraphic recommend running up to a 285 tire on a 19x10 up front with the increased width. they say it reduces understeer significantly

I think RSS Mike was running them on one of his cars at one time

LOL, you think the 997 fronts are bad, check out these OEM rear "flares" for the 991. What is Porsche thinking ???

+1 That looks well executed and the way it should be done IMO at least.
