Did it ever sell? I was surprised at the lack of movement, considering the color. I know the .1 GT3 is not exactly in vogue at the moment, but still....

Same thing happened with this 996 GT3:

https://rennlist.com/forums/vehicle-...ed-yellow.html

I don't know what price it was sold for, but that dealer has been sitting on it for 6 months now (and just lowered the price again).

I would be mad. From the sale thread, its inferred that the buyer painted a picture of being part of a community to secure the sale. The seller got duped by a dealer. Happens every day.....but I dont have to like it.

Not all buyers are smart buyers. Ans Porsches are bought on emotions.

That happens all the time, unfortunately. I especially resent the WTB ads from those posing as individuals looking for "father-son" projects

I agree with Dawgcatching. The car is now way overpriced at $25k above a good C2S. It was in the ballpark at the original seller's asking price. Not looking for a "deal" "steal" but looking to pay a fair price, not inflated price. I am just bummed that I didn't see it until it was snapped up by the flipper. Now it is essentially off the market to anyone with common sense. Yes, I agree with halo777, that you have to always be watching the internet to get the car that you want.....but the only people that have the time to be doing that all day are the dealers/flippers. Unfortunately (or fortunately) we Porsche enthusiasts need to spend our day working and not searching for our dream cars.

Wonder what the buyer's (flipper) rennlist name is? And how he is posing?

Do sellers really care where the car goes or just highest bidder or least BS ? An individual like me is going t0 want an over rev report and a PPI. A car I lost out to recently (I priced right) went to a local buyer with no conditions. (My guess is a dealer because the sellers EBAY history was less than stellar and raised a number of flags). Dealers can afford to bury risk under the numbers game (just like the housing crisis and bad loans) - an individual like me, truly buying for 'life' can't. Buying mistakes can cost 50% or more of the purchase price.

To me what difference does it make whether the seller thought it was "going to a good home." After all, these are cars, not puppies. Also, I agree with the sentiment that this is nothing more than supply and demand. A flipper cannot get more than the market will bear. If the car wasn't worth X% more than its selling price, a flipper would not buy it to resell it. Unless you grow your own food from seeds you harvested wild, and make your own clothes from animals you caught and killed, we are all in a sense flippers - it all starts somewhere else and moves up the chain, with value and/or cost added along the way.

I cared to some degree on a few cars. I bought a 1984 Quantum Wagon that had really bad hail damage for $380. The car was reliable as hell and I drove it 100k miles with only oil changes, new tires, brakepads and a battery. When it was time for it to go 4 years later, I advertised it for $800 but the kid that came to buy it didn't haggle at all. He offered $800 right away. His inexperience coupled with the fact that he said he used to come to a night club I owned in a far off city, I decided to mentor. I started pointing out the flaws in the car, "see this rust?... subtract $100" - he sheepishly said "$700" I pointed out the worn carpet ' he said "$600" I pointed out a coffee stain "$500" I patted him on the back and said "now you're getting the hang of it" He went to the front of the car and said what about these rock chips? $400?" "Don't push your luck kid - $500 it is."

And this just happened to me again. Wanted this car on PCA 2 weeks ago:

https://www.pca.org/classified-ad/328091

Now listed here for $10k more. https://rennlist.com/forums/vehicle-...era-white.html

I messaged the seller and verified it is the same car...

Someone needs to change this thread's subject line to Porsche Parasites

There is no service being performed here, no value added. Just grifting from both sellers and buyers.

Beautiful car. So, I’m curious - why didn’t you buy it 2 weeks ago if you wanted it?

The thread over on the marketplace forum stated that it was in rough shape; probably a fair deal at $48k, not at $58k. Even at $48k, I would rather have a well-kept car for a bit more. I got my super clean, well optioned, full leather C4S with all records and in excellent shape, needing nothing, car for $55k, so I think the leaner build, rough shape C2S was priced fairly at $48k. Someone would have to be pretty desperate to pay $58k for that car.

Why didn't you buy it? Like Thomas said above, your money is as good as the dealer's money who bought it. If it was that good of a deal, the seller should have been called as soon as the ad went live, sent a paypal deposit pending a good PPI, and then sent funds when you were ready to complete the deal. As a good friend of mine would say: **** or get off the pot!

I was conversing with the seller to buy it but the other party purchased before I could even arrange a PPI (it was sold within 24 hours of the PCA listing).

No big deal - all is fair. Just annoying when it shows up 2 weeks later for sale again at an inflated price.
