Default Dension 500SBT SUMMER BLOWOUT SALE!

As Dension's primary US distributor to the Porsche market, we sometimes receive special incentives on our larger orders. We were just offered a special for our incoming shipments of Dension 500SBT units (GW52MO2) for PCM 2.1 equipped 997/987/Cayman/Cayenne models and want to pass along the savings to you!

If you have PCM 2.1 w/telephone buttons on the upper left keypad, this unit is compatible and will provide full Bluetooth streaming and calls through the PCM. This is a time-tested full-featured full integration product for fiber optic vehicles and was developed originally for Porsche.

NOTE: Vehicles with CDR or PCM 3.0 are NOT compatible

If you have a cd changer, you may also want the CD Changer Bypass Cable so you can install the unit behind the PCM for best bluetooth connectivity.

The 500SBT leaves the interior of the vehicle exactly as it was (stock) and you will have a small microphone by the rearview mirror. Compatible with nearly every bluetooth device on the market today, and also provides USB and Aux inputs (3.5mm) for other devices. Integration is direct to the fiber optic loop, not modulation.

List: $695
Current Sale Price: $419
SPECIAL SALE PRICE: $379

These are complete kits with all fiber optic wiring, power harness, microphone, connector port (USB, Aux, etc) and all necessary parts to install. Again, if you need additional accessories or cables, they are listed on the same page:

Dension 500SBT: CLICK

All Bluetooth/iPod Integration Options: CLICK

When you add to cart you will see the shopping bag in the upper right. Click it to view cart and click button to use Coupon Code: SBT40

Please do not post this on other boards, but feel free to pass along to other Porsche enthusiasts you know who have yet to add Bluetooth to their Porsche and may be interested.

Prior sales not applicable. This is for new orders only, no dealers. Starts today and is limited to the first 100 customers only.

Eric,

Nice to see business is still good. Loved the plugs and other parts I ordered years ago.

Is this a DIY type thing? and do you have instructions?

Just placed my order! Looking forward to upgrading the Cayenne. Having fully integrated Bluetooth and streaming in the 993 has me spoiled....the Cayenne is next.

MedTech....most of our customers do it themselves, and it's not terribly difficult. We provide detailed installation guidelines with references to a few posts on RL and also some detailed images and 'how to' guidelines. If a vehicle does not have a cdc from the factory, coding is needed by a Porsche Tech with access to a PIWIS, but otherwise this is relatively straightforward. Pro install is an option, usually done in an hour or less depending on vehicle.

Does this unit provide BT connectivity for music in addition to phone?

Can you speak more to the CD Changer Bypass cable? What exactly does that do, and is it mandatory (my car does have the 6-disc changer)?

If I do get the cable, then I'll be able to install the 500SBT behind my PCM? And if I don't get the cable, then where would I need to install the 500SBT?

Eric, for my '08 957 Cayenne, will this use the built-in mic that was originally for the factory in dash phone?

Follow up to rebrewer: I have a cab. Does the mic/mirror location work well enough to use with the top down driving, say, 60 mph? Also, I have the factory CD changer with an OEM (Cayenne) Sirius XM receiver in the loop as well. Can the Dension work while leaving all of these components still working?

@ JustinCase - I have the original 500S installed now - no mic. I'm considering upgrading the the 500S BT if it will use the factory built in mic. I haven't gotten an answer back yet.

I have the factory CD changer and XM as well. The Dension eliminates use of the changer (you can switch back and forth manually at the changer location) and the XM functionality isn't compromised. I don't care about the changer as I never use it. All my music is on my phone.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Bob

rebrewer:
Use of the factory mic is not recommended (wire gauge size is tiny). Dension prefers that their mic be used with their devices. It is better located up by the rearview mirror for better pickup, compared with the steering column locations.

loon:
CD Bypass Cable: for cars with CDC and owners who never plan to use it again, the bypass cable is connected at the changer, power removed from changer, and 500SBT installed in cabin (for best bluetooth connectivity). The car's electronics can only see one CDC, and the Dension mimics a CDC to the system. If a CDC is retained (can be with our dual port 500SBT units, all we sell), the Dension can be installed up front, the CDC routed to the second input on the Dension, and the wiring for the Dension connector port taken through the firewall grommet and into the glove box.

6Mez:
Most folks never use the CDC again, so the bypass cable allows the Dension to be installed elsewhere (particularly useful for Cayenne installs - cdc is in rear hatch).
The 500SBT streams music (Pandora, iTunes, etc) and calls, directly through the fiber optic system.

Eric, could you drop a link to one of the installation references that you'd recommend? I'm excited for the opportunity to have bluetooth in my car, though a little intimidated by the work to get it there.

Fear - sorry I missed your post - dension.com has the primary basic overview, and there are some really good threads here on RL in the 997 and 997 Turbo sections. The other things we provide are detailed written documents/PDFs/images showing the how-to.

Email me with any questions: info@bumperplugs.com

SALE CONTINUES! Thank you to everyone who has participated in the sale. We will let this run just a bit longer.

Dilbert - use the Dension mic - far better than the tiny gauge of wire used on the factory mic.

Roman - with additional cables you can connect iPod or other devices and with PCM 2.1 yes, titles on screen. All one full kit, but Lightning Cables/Adapters are additional and listed on same page.

Email any questions - new shipment arrived last Friday and deal still in play.
