Default New rubber recommendations.

I'm looking for recommendations on some new rubber for my 2006 911s C2. I was a little shocked by the quote I got from my local shop for Pilot Sport 4S's. As my last set of rear Kumho tires only lasted one season. Purchased by the previous owner to pass the safety. I'm reluctant to go with the PS 4Ss if they have a similar life. That negative camber must have something to do with that inside wear. That and my need to feel that neck snapping acceleration
Also, any recommendations on 295s vs 305s? Thanks all.

Worn Kumho 295s

If you don't track the car and use it for normal street driving, the Bridgestone Potenza seems to last longer. It has low noise, decent handling, good in the wet.

Any Michelin product.... Porsche recommended "N" tires are not important.... Michelin makes a few tires for our cars and they are all fabulous.

I am done over-analyzing or trying to save a buck on tires. I never had a Michelin product I didn't like.

Peace

I'm all for saving money here and there. However I recently purchased the Michelin Pilot Sport 4s after hearing so many great reviews. I have to say I am part of the bandwagon now. There is a reason why people rave so much about them. They are the best handing tire I've driven. The down side is they are expensive. I went with the 305 tire. I have after market rims and was advised by the costco tire tech that the 305 would fit much better. I'm not certain if its because I went from 18inch to 19 inch rims or if its the tires. But the Michelin's are a bit louder than the Continentals I previously had. I have a buddy who is running the Hankook V12's on his R8 and 997.1. He loves them. They are quite a bit cheaper and suppose to last longer than the Pilot Sport 4s. I might give them a try to compare them to Pilot Sport 4s when they become worn.

I've been running Bridgestone RE970AS Pole Positions since replacing the set of Michelins it came with. I've been getting around 14K on the rears and 24K on the fronts. They have worn evenly and not noisy.

I have the V12 on my 997.2 C4S and for the price they are pretty good. I’ve put 20k on them and they can go a bit more. But I’m **** about tire pressure and if other people would keep the optimum pressures I think other brands could last a bit longer. I don’t have any track days on them though. Just backroad fun and long highway trips. They are also wearing evenly.

I just replaced Hankook v12's with new Pilot Sport 4s. These are much, much quieter and smoother than the Hankooks. Very happy with the Michelins.

as far as 305 goes.. I always prefer a wider tire vs a narrower one as far as performance goes.

I enjoyed the PSS that I had in the past, my new set of PS4S just arrived today so I'm interested in how they are. They are not the cheapest but a 911 is also not the cheapest. The set I ordered (GT2 RS fitment) off tirerack is about 1300 with TPMS.

Go with the Pilot Sport 4S, super nice without being as stiff as the N spec. might check your alignment/toe settings

My favorite budget minded tire that has excellent grip, good service life, and is decent in the rain is the Nitto Invo. I run these on both my supercharged 997 and my supercharged 928. On my wife's car I use the Hankook Evo 2 as hers is more a DD and she doesn't push it like I do. The only problem with the Hankooks is that they're directional and because the front and rear tires on our cars aren't the same size, you can't rotate them from side to side without dismounting and remounting them on the rim. Her last rears went 18,000 miles and before that she went through a set of Invos in about 14,000 miles. For how she uses the car, the Hankooks are the better choice and they're also very good in the rain. Invos have a cool tread pattern with a lot of rubber on the outer edge for cornering grip. I think the Michelins are almost twice the price and not anywhere near twice as good nor do they last twice as long so that's not a good value for me when you can get 95% of the same performance at 50% the cost.

I have the V12s and there pretty good. I have a few track weekends and some autocross on them plus about 7k miles. I run 36/39 warm street pressure and they seem to be holiding up great.

The pilots I have not had on the 911 but did on the A4. I think there better tires but not sure there worth the price delta.
