Which Eibach springs ?
#76
As far as track days... This year has been so busy and a bummer for me track wise. Just have not had the time, but would love to hit Button Willow some time this year since it is one of my favs.
What company/group do you race with? Send me a pm if you ever hit up Buttonwillow, Willow Springs, or AutoClub Speedway in Fontana.

Sorry to confuse everyone again but my local Eibach dealer insists on this part number to be competable for my '11 GTS,
E10-72-007-01-22
Is this maybe a Euro Spec thing ? or maybe pasm/no pasm ? Any ideas people ?

But if you search for 997 Carrera springs on https://eibach.com/uk/ or https://eibach.com/de/, you get E10-72-007-01-22 (2WD) and E10-72-007-02-22 (AWD)
That is odd because Porsche’s springs for US and RoW spec 997.2 cars are the same. There isn’t (with .2 cars) the concept of US vs. Euro springs anymore (I’ve never checked whether that’s the case with the .1 cars).
Hopefully the 7217.140 and E10-72-007-01-22 are the same springs.
I’d go with your local dealer’s recommendation.

https://eibach.com/us/ lists 7217.140 (2WD) and 7222.140 (AWD) for the 997 Carrera models.

Eibachs Installed on a 997.2 Targa 4
Just finished up installing my Eibach's. I replaced all the bump stops and one strut mount with hardware. While I was in there I replaced the rear rotors and painted my calipers. I also replaced all the brake pads with Hawk Performance Ceramics. I'd say the hardest part was painting the calipers in this hot weather, the rest was a piece of cake. I read up on previous installs and found that many steps are not required to swap out the springs on a Targa 4, although having a lift and impact goes a long way. All that's left to do is an alignment. :-)
Many thanks to Voodoo and Jason from Warehouse33.

- I have tested it over speed bumps - no scraping and ride as good or better than before.
- I did not use spacers for my wheels, my front offsets are 45, rears are 40.

I was looking for strut mounts and bump stops for all four corners for my 997.2 S, but I only can find for the front corners. Can't find bump stops or strut mounts for the rear (on sunset Porsche parts and on Suncoast porsche parts websites). Anyone have a link for these items?
Looking to get these springs finally installed over the April spring break, so I'm trying to obtain all the other items now.

I would HIGHLY.... I mean... HIGHLY recommend you replace the Top Strut Mounts which have rubber bushings in there that gets old, cracked, torn, stretched and tired. Especially when lowering the car you may think your strut mount is ok at first, but there will be added stress due to the lower springs and it will crack/tear for sure. Trust me, this is one job you do not want to do again because you start hearing some strange knocking a few months after doing springs. Ask me how I know If the strut mount is worn out and tired you will also see a bit more "sagging" in the front. It may look like the fronts are slammed and the rear is too high. These will definitely lead to knocks and slams when bottoming out . With fresh strut mounts the relationship and weight balance between front drop and the rear drop will look much more even and handling will be much better. Less prone to bottoming out as well.
Also highly recommend replacing the strut bearings which look like a flat donut. These help to keep any twisting motion through the strut turning smoothly.
Bump stops are cheap and should be replaced for added protection and strength since you may be bottoming out a lot sooner with lowered springs.
Recommended, but not necessary, are "while your in there" replacing anything that has tired bushings:
-sway bar bushings (important to order correct size for your model year/make)
-sway bar links
-lower control arms ( Y fork)
-track control arms ( coffin shape)
-inner tie rod to steering
-outer tie rod to hub.
-check all grease boots to the hubs.
this adds up really quick, but if your car has anything near 60k miles or more... then you will be amazed at how well the steering control and feed back feel after replacing those old suspension bushings and parts. Precision and tightness to the steering and handling make a really nice difference.

Check the specifics as some are for active suspension.
Sonnen is my local dealer but their online parts is run by Revolution Parts. They usually have better pricing than Suncoast.

And here is a writeup I did on installing mine, if you plan to DIY.

As @qikqbn said, you definitely want new strut mounts. I checked all mine and they looked good but my right rear still went a year later. The rears actually have a foam-type bushing that just gets compressed with age and allows some play. You will hear a faint rattling when one side of the suspension is loaded in a bumpy corner. The fronts have a rubber bushing that can crack or tear. I believe that results its more of a pronounced knock when going over low speed bumps.
Here is another writeup on replacing the strut mounts (after the fact).

Overall I love the Eibachs. One of my favorite mods for the car and I get compliments from everyone on the stance. 15mm spacers on the rear are perfect but the 7mm I put on the front are too small in my opinion. They are still slightly tucked in compared to the rears. Another member said 15mm in the front were too much so maybe 10 or 12 is the right balance.
