Default 997.1 to 997.2 paddle shift retrofit

Hi,
Was reading that due to a firmware upgrade the new steering module 99761328901 would not work? Is it true that I need to source a older (used) module to retrofit the 997.2 paddle shift wheel to my existing 997.1 mf (triangle) wheel?
Thanks!

Did you purchase the control module new? As I'm about the place the order for a new module but read somewhere that the updated firmware no longer works for the 997.1 retrofit.

if i remember correctly.. high is actually good, you should only concern when it's low.

I've got the 997.2 sports wheel like the above pic (Pics not mine, my thanks to the owner of the pic).
If a current new 997.2 control module will work, I can go ahead with the placement of the module.

mind you that the multifunction controls will only work if you buy an aftermarket module (to get MF buttons to work) on top of the 997.2 module (to get horn + transmission paddles to work).

So if I forgo the MF functions on the wheel, to get the wheel functional (horn + paddle) only the 997.2 module will suffice? I dun think the 997.2 sports wheel I have has the MF controls anyway.

I don't see a reason not to upgrade to a MF wheel if u r thinking of the 991.2 style wheel. same size as a regular wheel. its a much thicker wheel if u compare to 997. feels much better. go to a Porsche dealship and try it.

I believe all the wheels (the modern gen.) are the same for Porsche. should fit all models.

hi - thanks for sharing this.

i want to do an identical change for my 997.1 c2s - but I want the MF controls to work with my aftermarket head unit (Pioneer). Replaced the PCM years ago.

my shop says they’ve had numerous problems with horns not working and Mf controls (esp the scroll buttons)not working correctly.

could you share exactly what kind of steering control unit is required for this change and which adapter you used to control the audio unit ? Also do all your MF buttons work ? Including volume , phone and scroll ?

Thanks very much

I've used the following steering module 99761328901 and with the re-programme via PIWIS. No issues on mine, horn works and no check lights.
However as my 997.2 wheel is not multi function, I am not sure if the buttons works (I know for sure that when I engage sports mode, the lights on the wheel does not light up, so I reckon multi function may not work).

However was told by another mech. that they had encountered the problem with the horns not working etc. But I took the risk with the new module and it worked out for me.

Regards,

Default 997.1 to 997.2 paddle conversion

I recently upgraded my 997.1 tiptronic steering wheel to 997.2 paddle shifters. It was working superbly for around 2 months. Now it will not shift upward anymore! Downshift is working fine. Any ideas? Could the module be the culprit? Any insights would be appreciated!
