Default Service light?

06 C2S with 78k miles. Owned about 18 months and put 25k miles on it and never had the service light come on til now. I was already planning to do an 80k service (plugs, oil change, filters etc.). Does the light mean I need to do anything else, or is it just an excuse to buy a Durametric tool?

Yes, good excuse for Durametric. It comes on based on time and/or mileage. If you're up to date on service, just reset it.

“25k miles in 18 months”. I need to step up my pace.

"Owned about 18 months and put 25k miles on it"

Best practice is to service it every year regardless of distance travelled. There was a massive discussion on this in the 996 forum with Jake Raby where he answered why an annual service is the minimum one should do.

What "annual service" do you refer to?

I do 4-5k mi oil changes and follow the Porsche recommended intervals for everything else.

6 months or 5K miles is my rule. Whichever comes first.

I service my fleet when the time changes, takes me 2 weeks!
