Do yourself a favor and get a 1994-1996 Buick Roadmaster Wagon (no I'm not kidding). Cheap and it has the detuned LT-1 Corvette motor. Tows 6,000 pounds.

Volvo is on the list too... problem is, I am looking for some lightly used cars and there's so few of these cars available. However, some older ones are available for DIRT CHEAP actually, quite a few bargains if I wanted 10yr old clean cars!

Just go out and get a MB 350 4matic wagon. Bluetec will have all the ooomph and handling capabilities you’ll need (trust me, you will be impressed what this wagon can do on a winding road). Great mileage, cargo space, creature comfort and will cruise the interstate like it is on rails.

F-Pace starts at 3880 lbs- about the same as a 5er or EClass.
XC90 - supercharged and turbocharged and electric motors for an e-hybrid - all three!

The breaks, well it’s a lease. So not planning to sink money into upgrades. Keep those funds for the 997. I guess my real gripe is with BMW only bringing the small motor 3er wagon with the small motor kit (brakes, suspension, wheel and tire options) to the states when I would happily pay for the 3 liter turbo wagon and the accompanying kit or even pay for a 5er wagon if they offered. Either way, a lease, so not upgrading the current.

But like OP, I’m always looking at Cayenne’s and what they are asking on the used market. Gen 1 turbos, not perfect, are alway intriguing.

CTS-V wagon with six speed. A fun family hauler, that will destroy most cars out there, when needed. For 1200 dollars (pulley and tune) you can get up to 650 HP and torque too. Yea Yea, its GM but they have a good history on them. Get winter wheels and tires if thats what you need.

Wife just leased a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited and I honestly say it is 80% the car a Cayenne is. I was shocked how nicely it drove, features, comfort, and flexibility. I would even venture to say the transmission is better then the Tiptronic unit in the Cayenne (had the Cayenne for the last week while my 997 was getting a new pdk). Best part they lease extremely well, $450/month with all the options you'd want.
